And sometimes it doesn't, but there's NOTHING wrong with taking your time to believe that your crappy dad has changed. It's kind of up to him to prove himself.

Ugh, his character on House of lies was SO awful. I thought it was well-written, but so freaking frustrating and depressing!

I'm curious about the tropes and clichés you think it uses - badly, I assume.

    This made me happy.

I think the show would work just as well if he stayed. But it can be great without him too.

I mean all those men in Rebecca's life are also Real problems. They do deserve anger, and some of Rebecca's issues are probably direct results of their actions. But I'd still like to see her deal with her problems, since she's the only one she can change.

I thought the choreography in La La Land was very mediocre, so maybe it is?

Does that have a higher budget than Awkward black girl?

I tried watching that but the quality of a Youtube web series didn't work for me. But Insecure is great!

I hadn't even thought of the Sound of music references! Of course we'll get plenty of those. :D

I've been hearing that and thinking I hope she doesn't, because everyone I've met/heard of with BPD have been people who act really badly towards others and are seriously lacking in empathy (not saying Rebecca is a good friend or particularly good person, but I do find her sympathetic and caring in between her

Yes, I think most of the men in Rebecca's life have been pretty bad.

    That was indeed frustrating!

    Nooooo

Pretty likely this is a musical TV show, and much like in musicals and musical films, people burst out in song and dance, and it's not part of the story.

Yes. :S I really hope it's the latter. Don't want that twist. I'd rather find out that much of what we've seen hasn't been real because Rebecca is an unreliable narrator than that she's been imagining it all.

    :/ I think you're right about that.

Not nearly as shocking to me, but similarly fresh and unexpected (you can be unexpected without twist and without shocking people).

It sucks that you're dad's like that, but congrats for having the strength to tell him to f off! That's great.
