Kevin’s slow mental breakdown was definitely a highlight, and the fact that the thing that broke him was finding out that Jake didn’t show him the only 2 nic cage movies he might have remotely enjoyed was perfect.
The “Whom I saw at the library” part was a nice touch.
A lot of the Jake-Kevin stuff landed, but my favorite bits were Rosa at the hairdresser (even though she doesn’t like anyone touching her head), especially screaming in horror when she first sees herself as a blonde, and then playing it off as being excited.

Actually, That Thing You Do is a frickin’ great song. To carry the movie, it needs to sound like it would have been a gigantic hit in the early 60's, and it does. Brilliant songwriting by Adam Schlesinger.
