Yeah seriously. I also wonder how many buyers at the time were actually cross-shopping a 300ZX with Corvette anyway.

Pre-Obama, so yes.
Heh. Ditto. I’m 39 and yep, about 2-3 years ago the C4 suddenly became a very cool car to me.
Yeah that’s pretty much when I turned it off.
That’s true... BUT... how many car fires happen on brand new cars vs. older cars that may have not been properly maintained and/or have deteriorating components?
Oooh... I like that a lot. Cadillac and Lincoln both need to embrace their mid-century modern design cred and apply elements of it to their interiors like they did here (and on the Continental concept from two years ago). It would be the best way to differentiate themselves from the Germans.
I think this might have been the first or second time I’ve ever made a comment like that on Jalopnik (and this one was half-sarcastic). And I’ve never made that kind of comment on Foxtrot Alpha.
Did they also build cars or something?
No no, these guys suck at frisbee.
It depends on how much money you have. To some people, $150k is a lot of money. To others, $150k is basically nothing. I’m guessing that the client for this car is in the latter category.
Did you watch the video? He took all the plastics out, laser scanned them, then had them reproduced in aluminum. And the dash and door panels were covered in hand-stitched leather.
Oh that's right, I remember that video. Crazy.
That grille really is an odd choice for Mercedes. They always accentuate the horizontal lines rather than vertical.
I like the idea of what he’s trying to do (i.e., talk about more than just the specs of the car, with a focus on the context of the car’s period and it’s place in it), which is why I try to watch the videos. But the execution is fucking awful. Just awful.
These videos are awful. Just fucking awful. I always try to give them a shot because the cars are interesting, and every time I have to turn them off halfway through because of how seriously terrible they are. Every. Fucking. Time. The too-clever-by-half commentary and ironic voices are cringeworthy and the pointless…
Yeah, had to be. I’d guess almost 80-90mph at least. These things don’t disintegrate like this for normal road-speed collisions.
Every generation does complain about that, except they started being exactly right about it around 1968. And it looks like it’s going to get a whole lot worse before it gets any better.
The hippies did indeed destroy America. Everything wrong with the country today can be traced to that generation; the decline which has led to Barack Obama, social justice warriors, identity politics, and the rise of socialism in this country is a direct result of ideas and academic theories borne out of 1960s and…
Ummm... name me an instance of a bystander being killed by flying Lamborghini debris and you might have a point.
Very high speed.
