There are plenty of commenters right here whom if I was the conspiratorial type, would assume were commenting from a cubicle at Tesla HQ, or perhaps Musk’s basement.

For a low-volume manufacturer like Tesla, it’s not really an issue of cost effectiveness or practicality. It’s just a matter of ordering buttons in whatever color you want and making sure they only go on US-spec cars.

4. Millennials are the worst. Just... the worst.

For the last twenty years or so, the G-Wagen has gotten whatever powerplant was going into the S-Class. In Europe they have a wider range of engines, but they’ve always been whatever Mercedes is currently putting in it’s road cars. I don’t think the G-Wagen has had a bespoke engine for a very long time.

Jesus fucking christ. The average person doesn’t know that ‘autopilot’ on an aircraft is really just a workload reduction feature, nor are they going to look up the fucking FAA regulations. They hear ‘autopilot’ and imagine something totally hands-off, because that’s what it means in common parlance.

I’ve literally never given it even the slightest thought. In New York, up until very recently, your odometer reading was written right on your inspection sticker, which is displayed right on your windshield for anyone to see. In fact, I used to check out the stickers on old cars I saw on the street, just to see what

Gymnastics and figure skating ARE dumb as Olympic sports. Absolutely.

That’s the problem with ALL modern cars. They’re technically better than ever, but will end up on the road for MUCH shorter period of time than their predecessors. Because nobody will be able (or want) to fix them once their warranty is up and repair costs fall on the owner.

I’m just saying that harnesses do fail, sometimes for unforeseen reasons. Making a harness this big and complex seems like a major gamble.

I love donks so much. How can you not smile looking at those things.

At least with an actual race there’s a quantifiable way to determine who wins. It’s not about ‘style points’ and subjective nonsense crap like that.

And this will guarantee that a $250,000 car is totaled in a minor collision.

Just ask Mercedes circa 1992...

I’ve owned an ‘87 944S also, so I can tell you that the Esprit is much more expensive to live with, but it also depends on how much you plan to drive, and the condition you buy them in.

At least 1.2psi, maybe even more.

Restoring this thing properly will cost well upwards of $100k.

I didn’t say anything about fun. I said it’s dumb, and it is. Lots of dumb things are fun; the two aren’t mutually exclusive.

Is there some kind of rulebook I’m not aware of or...

His tire pressure was clearly off.
