It’s a fangame/ROM hack of a Nintendo IP, it doesn’t matter what the platform of origin is. Unless it’s NES/SNES since those ROM hacks are everywhere and there really isn’t much Nintendo can do about it.

GODDAMMIT, I figured that’s what’s going on.... I got the Mario Odyssey bundle so I have no way of playing the game for now.

They’re angry because the game was clearly designed with microtransactions in mind. So I’ll believe it once EA reverts the system back to something similar to Battlefront 1, and permanently (not temporarily) gets rid of all traces of microtransactions.
