My argument is that there wasn't really a distinction between "prestige" and "low-brow" before cable.

There's certainly a soft spot in my heart for the use of "Beautiful Day" in Bandits.

When talking to The Edge, does one use the definite article? I imagine The Edge would get confused otherwise, because one could be referring to any number of Edges.

I think it's safe to say that we've all seen Emanuelle in Space, making us all very familiar with this subject.

Fair point, though I think Buffy balances the MotW/serialized narrative dichotomy better.

Had a Muppety weekend and watched The Muppet Movie, The Muppets Take Manhattan, and Muppets Most Wanted. First two are classics, obviously, and I quite enjoyed the third one. Not incredible, but it's hard to go wrong in that camp.

I don't think anybody would call NYPD Blue a "prestige drama," but by the standards set in Noel's article, wouldn't it technically fit into that category? I think it's interesting that you can kind of trace the genesis of this idea to the rise of cable and the diversification of the TV landscape.

Maybe, but I was always more of a Levon fan.

I quite like the idea of Eraserhead as a Mr. Mom-style family comedy.

Wow, this place is great!

Would ghost cunnilingus fly in a PG-13 movie? Because if not, I'm not interested.

And Chuck Berry's inspiration for "Johnny B. Goode" came from Marvin. His cousin . . . MARVIN BERRY!!!

And what a great year it was.

That excuse sphinx to high heaven.
