Only read the CivilWarLand short story but holy smokes, what a short story. I've been trying to get my hands on a used copy for a while but it remains elusive.
Wolf Hall!! I've also been meaning to read it forever. Are you liking it?
So . . . not the Belushi bio?
Definitely check out White Noise. I think it's a lot funnier than most of his other books (granted, my experience with him is limited).
Just bought Hyperion and Fall of Hyperion a few weeks ago after hearing great things from friends. Did you like them?
In the middle of The Golden Compass by Phillip Pullman. Never read it when I was a kid and I'm kicking myself for not having gotten into it before. What a crazy, wonderful world he's crafted.
"Do you believe in magic . . . sorcery, mysticisms?"
AY CARM!! WHERE'S THE GABAGOOL??
This is the last time eyelet myself get involved in a pun thread.
This is awesome news. Unfortunately you'd have to kill me and drag my carcass across the desert to get me to Coachella. Maybe they'll tour?
Good gravy I hope Time Chasers makes the cut.
"Thayt's ebsolewtely fessinayting."
It might be but I'm a big fan of Pod People myself.
Troy: "Was I like him?"
Mike: "No he was masculine and likable."
Bolt VanDerHuge!
"Yeah, I defected to Russia before gentrification ruined it."
The only Ellroy books I've read are The Big Nowhere and My Dark Places. Both were incredible and I keep meaning to pick up more of his stuff.
Well yeah, King is writing as a baby boomer with a serious emotional investment in a pivotal event in our country's history. I understand your feelings of detachment, but I think it's important to at least recognize that fact.
11/22/63 is a fantastic brick of a book. Definitely King's best, for my money. Also features one of the greatest parodies/acknowledgements of time travel plot-holes:
