So dumb. Republicans scream about FREEDOM but hate it if you choose to drive an EV. Personally I have no interest in owning an EV, but I think it’s great if my neighbor chooses to. More EVs mean less demand for gas, which means lower gas prices.  There should probably be a tax though on public EV charger use to make

Sounds like a combination of terrible drivers and bad transmissions from Toyota.  I’ve been driving manual Jeeps for 20 years (including difficult trials in Moab) without any problem.  I much prefer the stick to the automatic which has no feedback from the torque converter and doesn’t engine brake on descents.

I think Lawrence meant to write “first generation”?

It’s too bad there basically aren’t concept cars anymore. After the 2008 crash it seems manufactures decided concept cars are not a good use of time/money. Another reason why it’s hard for me to get excited about the cars that are currently being built.

I think they’ve lost the plot because of poor decisions by management who don’t see the whole picture.

Forgot to mention that a regular Grand Cherokee SRT8 is pretty much the same but less expensive, and probably gets slightly better MPG. A more reasonable choice comparatively.

Ignoring obvious modified vehicles like brodozers - less obvious stock answer is something like a Grand Cherokee Trackhawk - expensive 700 hp SUV that gets terrible MPG, is useless off-road, has basically the same interior as a base spec Laredo, and will never be used on a track.

It’ll be interesting to learn more about why they dropped the 7th gear. When I read the headline I assumed they used the 6 speed from the GT3. This article makes it seem like that’s not the case. When the 7 speed first came out I remember reading the reasoning was it shared a lot of parts with the 7 speed PDK

A bit of a strange decision. I’m guessing they really are wanting to sell more I4's and fewer V6's, possibly for for CAFE reasons. Though maybe they are testing the waters to see for the people buying the V6/auto combo what’s more important to them the V6 or the auto?

It’s not surprising that cars are now tall. Years ago they made short cars illegal. A hood line like a DB7 or NA Miata wouldn’t pass todays regulations.

I’ve said for a long time that remote work is probably the most effective climate policy. If people only drive on the weekends that has a dramatic effect on gas demand, emissions, road wear, etc. Way simpler solution than trying to build an entire charging infrastructure. Not to mention for those people who have jobs

Sadly Porsche is about to do something terrible and stop selling these. It’s currently the only Porsche for sale I actually want. (Well maybe in addition to the Dakar). I really wish they would keep making the 4.0 for a few years more.

Agreed, I think it’s dependent on the segment. I’m in the market for a sports car from the 2010's. Most seem to sell within a week of being listed. No shortage of demand in my area.

I think Jeep Freedom Drive I is 4 auto & 4 hi, some Silverado’s (non-Z71) are 2 hi, 4 auto, and 4 hi, some Cayenne’s have been 4 auto & 4 hi.  I wouldn’t be surprised if some newer Land Rovers have 4 auto & 4 hi, but no low range.

Huh, it’s been a long time since I’ve been to the Needles district. I don’t think low range was a requirement when I was there. I think I did need a permit, vehicle requirement conversation was probably pretty short after answering ‘Wrangler’. I’ve seen Subarus on NPS trails, but the ones I’ve seen have always been

Not sure why so many people are mentioning low range in their comments. I don’t see that mentioned at all in the NPS letter. Just AWD versus 4WD.  Not uncommon to have 4WD with only a high range.  One thing that hasn’t been mentioned is how much more reliable 4WD is. I’ve heard many stories of AWD working great until

My number one is actually still in production, but not for long. I’d really like to buy a new Boxster with a flat 6 and do European delivery. Unfortunately it will be discontinued before I’m able to afford one.

Should we mention which engine the Durango is equipped with? Nah. Should we mention if it’s the same engine or different from the previous Chargers? Nah.

You mention the midsize Dakota, but the full size Ram had a quad cab back in 1998.

Well which is it? Years ago they said that short cars were unsafe to pedestrians, so they passed laws that made cars taller.
