This, a thousand times - this. When dealing with private schools, you have to be aware of every little detail to get a sense of the broader picture; if at any point they are asking you NOT to be involved, run. Even a school with great scores can be a seething shitshow behind the scenes.

If I was in that situation, where video clearly shows the deceased was pushed into traffic by the actions of an inattentive 3rd party, I would have the decency to sue the people actually responsible and actively try to avoid causing the family of the deceased any further suffering.
