The GTI comment is spot on. I commute to my job in a VERY small town everyday (188 people) and have had farmers in their 1980’s beat up pickup trucks tell me how much they “like my little Volkswagen”. On the other scale, I was chatting to a guy with an S63 and he says he loves the GTI. Everyone just seems to love them.

Russia engineers their weapons to be used in war (shitty, dirty, everything fucking destroyed, people still trying to kill you) whereas America engineers their weapons for lab conditions (assume a frictionless sphere....)

Kind of makes you wonder why the Marines don't look at the Russian approach of the use of planes designed for unimproved landing/take off for their next generation support aircraft. Sure would make more sense than trying to make a pointy nose super cruise stealth airplane land vertically in bean field.
