Exactly, cars are getting too safe. The euro NCAP scale ( don´t know about NHTSA's) definitely needs to be redone. Euro NCAP needs to be ´harsher´. The problem now is that almost all new cars automatically get a 5 star rating.

Exactly. Although most of the 504´s were exported to Mauritania/Mali in the early nineties you occasionally still see a beaten 504 serving as a taxi. I think that´s really indicative of the great buildquality of these cars. Especially considering the often rough conditions in Africa.
