440 ppi...After a certain point (ie 300 or so), won't the differences be purely academic and invisible to people? That's a lot of extra load on the GPU for a dubious benefit. Sure it can play 1080p video naively, but at 5 inches would downscaling artifacts even be visible? Seems like specs for specs sake, the new MHz

I agree. There is even a quad core Ivy bridge mobile CPU in the same wattage displacement as their current dual core, if they just used the space from the DVD drive for more battery to displace that and the discreet GPU they could have had a much better laptop. That would be worth the "pro" moniker, not this dual core

Heat, fan noise, but at low loads they shouldn't be too bad.

Still quite a bit of UI sluggishness with these in ML, I don't think that will go away until Haswel. The 15" at least could be forced to use the discreet GPU on AC power, this doesn't have that fallback.

I knew this would come out as soon as I don't need one anymore. Lucky kids will get to play mario in full colour while looking like they are furiously trying to solve calculus problems.

Hard to believe a guy who wears magic underwear and believes in Kolob almost got nuclear launch codes.

In fact that is the case, only >4GB writes are buffered

I thought only the first 4GB of writes were cached? How could it be up to 110 if most of the SSD is already used by common files?

It's a bit different from Intel SRT. You can read my other comment on this article if you want.

It's a bit slow as new SSDs go, only 400 read 300 write. And anything that can't be put on the SSD (writes larger than 4GB, non frequently used files for reads) would be as slow as a normal HDD.

Initially I thought this was just a copy of Intels Smart Response SSD cache, but the implementation seems even better. My Momentus XT speeds up boot to a similar degree, but writes aren't cached (yet, Seagate promised a firmware for that but never delivered). The Fusion Drive is like the opposite of a flash cache,

Limited edition coin. There's probably a lot neither of us have seen. This one is new though, it may still be in production.

I think she meant continuous shooting.

Is a nuclear missile manned?

We literally have glowing dinosaur coins up here. About time the dinosaurs repaid us.

Iwata wants to sell you the hardware, it's their business. Kotaku gives no fucks how many sell.

It wouldn't have been much extra effort to color match the power bricks and the Wii U color, I don't see why the bricks always have to be that drab grey. And for only 75 watts, that thing is pretty big!

I know there have been...Hence my Momentus XT, but there haven't been a lot of them. It reviewed so well I'm surprised no one else slapped some NAND cache on their regular drives.

Right after I get my Momentus XT too...Ah well. I was wondering why no one else tried to make a hybrid hard drive until now.

Nothing seems to be on right now there...Are they only coming when the polls are closed?
