The international GSIII was the only phone to beat the 4S in GPU speed, and that was long after its launch. I'm assuming Apples 2x claim is true, because they're usually right on the money with those claims. Now look at this chart, double the 4Ss performance, and you'd have to agree other phones will be playing catch

Also bearing in mind that Sunspider is very limited in multithreading, and that the Atom tested above is one larger core vs two smaller in the A6, that means for better threaded things the A6 may be even faster. I'm impressed, this should be the fastest smartphone CPU for a while, and who knows if others will catch up

As a professional CPU/computer hardware geek, colour me impressed. It scored 1000MS on Sunspider, which for now makes it the fastest phone at that test shipping now. And the geekbench score wasn't quite so high as the leak, but 1400 makes it very competitive. Love Apple or hate them, can't argue with hard numbers.

So the sound comes out of both the larger hole that goes towards your ear canal, and the smaller hole to the side of your ear. Sounds like that would mean even more sound leak than the last ones, which were pretty bad.

I read that these are the less shiny diamonds that will end up in heavy machinery (cutting stuff, corrosion free machine edges, etc), not the type that would end up in jewellery and fetches a higher margin. So the diamonds that people own won't suddenly drop in price.

Half the point is defeated if you can't change lenses though.

Jony: "We actually...Found a way...To fuse the lens and the camera body together to make it 18% thinner"

The metric that impresses me is that these beat many 3GHz Pentium 4s. For some reason that's always the "1x" of performance in my brain to compare all newer CPUs to.

"A BPI rep wrote in to say the original image included with this post was not, one of their products."

Still harder to take advantage of a quad core vs a faster dual core. Some problems are not parallel.

Lol, there's that. But my point was the folks at XDA were trying to break the encryption on that one for a while, I don't think they have yet, so the point remains that a long standing encryption can stand for a while.

Has the BB Playbook bootloader been unlocked yet?

Bummer. Just like the last Fire, decent to good hardware, subpar software. Back to considering buying the Nexus 7 then I guess.

It has the same power, yes, but most "iPad apps" have a different iPhone version.

A5 means A5. It uses the chip in the 4S, perhaps shrunk down to 32nm.

More interesting is that it is neither an A9 or an A15 in there, but something more like Krait, a custom design.

I'm curious if the battery life fix affects performance or UI fluidity in any way.

The claim from Apples website was that these sound like cans that are "hundreds more". So much for that. But I agree with the "this is weird" part, at least the baseline standard will go up a bit.

Need I say more.

It's flash storage. It can also use USB drives though, and you can get a 32GB one pretty cheap now.
