Well this is weird - I also went to the LA Auto Show and felt the same way. It's just not a good looking car. And compared to the Mark 1 new Mini, it's really big.
Also - the e46 and e93 wagons were available with a stick in the US. The current 3 series wagon is not. So in that sense, BMW is going backwards in offering "proper wagons."

Yes - you're right. At least the front and rear used to look like they came from the same car. And they all had a certain charm to them... Maybe this one will grow into it, but I'm not optimistic.
