Folks not in the movie biz or film academia should probably stop telling filmmakers and film academics how to discuss film. Folk Horror is a fascinating subgenre with its own tropes to use and discuss. Sorry if that's not your cuppa.

I saw the movie yesterday. Personally I thought that jump cut, if you can call it that, was really interestingly done.

No. I like horror movies set in old timey villages where life is complete shit, and they farm and such and then satan comes and starts possessing all their hot chick youth.

The family in the Witch was annoying as fuck yes, but they are puritans, so of course they were annoying. The whole point of that movie was that hanging out with satan as a witch eating babies was probably a better life style than just being unhappy as hell and farming.

“Bore me to death” typically has a different meaning in a gore-horror context. Usually involving a fancy corkscrew, mining machinery, or possibly some kind of mutant beetle.

All week I’ve been perplexed by so many people complaining that the show all of a sudden started hinting that Daenerys was a mad queen. They’ve literally been building this up for the entire show!

I definitely disagree. All of her assumptions proved wrong, and her entire world finally fell apart around her. Everyone she counted on has died except her twin brother, who showed up with a presumably mortal wound. Seems perfectly reasonable that she’d fall apart at that moment.

Plus, assuming she was really pregnant.…
