The first season of Buffy isn't a "slog". It's ridiculously easy to watch, it's just not as smart as it would later be. By the first season finale (only the 12th episode), it's firing on all cylinders.

You've heard of the name, you have a reaction to it. Brand awareness is enough of a green light for Hollywood.
Super Mario 64 is the best Mario ending music. Curiously bittersweet… as an end theme should be.
I'm so glad it paid off though. It was, in no way, superfluous and hackneyed.
Fair play. That's 79 more jokes than a season of Entourage.
Wake me up for SPECTRE and Star Wars.
First Question : Will my plane crash?
Answer : No…
Amen. He didn't do anything when he came back either. Buffy had another six seasons of rollicking good TV in her after her first resurrection. JC just did a bit of waving and then buggered off.
We have to try / We'll pay the price
It's do or die / Hey, I've died twice.
Wow. How did they make the most high-profile superhero mash-up ever seem so boring?
Well, to be fair, they'd need a good sense of humour.
Kinda glad that I stopped purchasing them with Season Ten…
The hilarity you must have each week at church.
Yes, the joke done far better.
Er, no. It just means I haven't been indoctrinated by any phoney belief system built on science fiction. If you'd like to enlighten me in a way dozens of books on religion and faith have failed, go ahead.
A lot of the doc concentrates on the supposed injustice of the IRS granting Scientology tax exemption because it is considered to be a "religion".
What a show. Still don't know exactly where we're headed, but enjoying the ride.
Just an extra at the Enchantment Under The Sea dance…
Very impressed so far. A slow-pace at first, but never to the detriment of my enjoyment. And the cliff-hanger was classic Breaking Bad. Sign me up!
What a show. You talk about it being ahead of its time; I think it will always be timeless.
