I rate my ID’ing skills fairly high. It’s fun to do when on a boring drive. A Subaru sedan is a rare enough find that it would stand out to me.

On top of the items listed in the article, there’s also the consideration of how responsible your kid is with their belongings. Are they constantly losing things, leaving them behind at friend’s houses or public places? Do they respect and understand how much a smartphone costs to purchase and replace?
