Interior volume for the GLI is 108.8.

I respectfully disagree.  In a hatch you have far more usable interior volume than in a sedan.  Throw the seats down and you can fit a massive quantity of cargo.

Id like to know why anyone buys a GLI over the far more versatile GTI...

I sold my 2013 Focus ST this past winter. It was up there with 140k and was starting to need work... clutch, bushings, breaks (again), etc etc. I couldn’t see sinking thousands into a car that was so old. I love my new Volvo S60 T6 but man, I really do miss the ST.
