Yeah, I get that. And I loved DMC 5, but something about the pace and style of that combat here just doesn’t fit right in my brain...this mopey knight bent on revenge in a politically-grounded conflict is flipping all over the place like he should be saying things like “Woohoo! Jackpot!” while nu-metal plays in the

*Me watching that political intrigue and worldbuilding*: Aww yeah, that’s the stuff.
*Me watching the action combat*: ...that’s not the stuff.

As always, the major companies continue to prove that they won’t be the answer to historic preservation, even with the best games of each generation. Xbox’s attempts are far and away the best and should be applauded, but even with their monumental efforts (and presumably budgets) lots of games will never be accessible

Of all the franchises, I’m surprised The Sims hasn’t gone to a F2P / live service model at this point, where numbered entries no longer exist and the game is just constantly being updated like an MMO.

I’m having the hardest time deciding if I’m going to double-dip on P5 Royal for my Steam Deck or play it on Game Pass on the Deck instead...the Deck is basically the only console that I’m using at the moment because it fits so perfectly into my routines as a busy parent, while I can’t tell you the last time I booted

There was a point a couple (few?) years ago where they seemed to be making a concerted effort to carry a pretty comprehensive retro selection as well as new stuff, I’d guess in an effort to more fully compete with local game stores. I actually bought quite a few old PS1 and PS2 games through their website for a steal

I mean...yeah, of course it wasn’t going to succeed? This revival felt like such a clear example of nostalgia pandering from some executives without really understanding why G4 likely succeeded in the first place. It existed before Youtube, streaming culture, and a lot of our current game coverage infrastructure

Now would be a great time for Sony to drop PS Home 2 (now compatible with PSVR2!) and just effortlessly eat Zuck’s lunch without even the pretext of caring about this metaverse nonsense.

I’m relatively new to the Xeno series - I got through roughly the first halves of XC and XC2 before losing interest, finally finished Xenogears at the beginning of the pandemic, and XC3 was the first that really clicked with me. I loved my time with XC3, it’s absolutely one of my favorite RPGs.

Considering nearly everyone who bought a Steam Deck likely bought it through Steam and therefore earned points for it, I don’t see this as an issue. I’d guess we’ll all be able to get at least a couple free boot videos from those points, if not more. Much better than the rest of the offerings to use points on.

Probably the same computer that generated the thought “sequel to Valkyrie Profile, but now a generic action game”. Or the marketing computer that was like “release all of your games, many of them in the same genre, all at once”.

It’s especially surprising because, despite the series’ roots as a turn-based RPG, Final Fantasy has already covered a ton of weird genres. Outside of the main entries, the series and characters have been adaptable enough to fit in with third-person shooters (Dirge), politically-focused tactics games (Tactics series),

I used to work at a large international architectural design firm that prided itself on creative collaboration, and one of the strategies we tried for collaborating between offices was some VR software where you all login while wearing a headset, walk around the in-progress model of the building you’re designing, and

Every weeb now rushing to find a Gardevoir and crossing an item off their bucket list...

This made me nostalgic for Most Wanted’s incredibly cringe FMV sequences with dialogue and acting seemingly directed by a 50 year old marketing director who saw Fast and Furious once and loved it.

And yet, a few minutes ago I just watched the official gameplay trailer for the Dead Space remake on Youtube without any kind of age / content warning, which holds nothing back in terms of violence, gore, and dismemberment, and quickly reminded me that, holy shit, that game had some messed up shit in it. But that’s

PS4. Valid point, but considering how PS4 vastly outsold the competition and is damn close to beating out the Game Boy as the third best-selling console of all time, I’m betting that most of those sales happened on Sony’s console.

Yeah, I think the issue is that Fromsoft sure doesn’t seem like a developer that ever looks backwards in its catalog. Outside of Dark Souls and Demon’s Souls (technically Bluepoint), have they ever rereleased a game in their long history? King’s Field is long gone, it’s weird there hasn’t been some kind of Armored

I really don’t understand this strategy, especially this month. Surely the overlap in audience is big for most of these games, so is Diofield going to eat up some attention from Valkyrie, maybe meaning that neither of them reaches their full potential due to lack of oxygen? I would think it would make more sense to

Google’s track record of creating something interesting, getting bored when it isn’t immediately super successful, and then abruptly killing it is a big reason why I’m much more hesitant to even bother trying most of their new apps and services. I loved Inbox and used it for as long as I could, tried using half a
