Charm type is weak against Strange but super effective against Bottom.

I mean...good? Red Dead 100% still holds up, and while some tweaks to GTA IV would’ve been nice (improved gunplay, better checkpoints) it’s also still a much more modern experience than the PS2 GTAs. It’s hard not to look at this like the Last of Us remake and wonder why this is even necessary. Just port the games

I’d second that recommendation, Gameye’s great for tracking my collection and it didn’t take long to set up.

Sega, learning nothing from the majority of games and anime translated into live action being critical failures...

Holy shit, I didn’t even notice that, I was too distracted by the fact that this Gandalf can get it.

A couple years ago my mom and grandparents got on this weird kick to get Italian citizenship, which Italy allows based on ancestry, and I thought it was pointless since our family has exactly zero cultural overlap or traditions with our Italian heritage (my extended family can’t even cook pasta well, and their wine

I enjoyed this series well enough, as long as I mostly turned my brain off and let the emotional beats (and Ewan McGregor’s acting) wash over me. But I do think it would have been more satisfying for Obi-Wan to first discover that Vader is Anakin, likely through a force sensation or familiar phrase / action while

I’d figured that Square took the lazy route with the KH ports partially because it’s always sounded like the code for those games has been a nightmare to work with. I seem to remember reading that they had to rebuild quite a bit for the PS3 collections, and considering that console’s unique code I’m not sure what it

I’m not surprised they couldn’t replicate the success of Pokemon Go. I can’t think of another beloved IP that so immediately makes you wish you could walk around and see its characters within the real world, the pitch writes itself. The fact that they tried to stretch that concept to also fit so many other properties

True. I can also easily imagine the Wind Waker team being excited by the Mario Sunshine style, which in retrospect is incredibly similar on a surface level.

This is a good example of “even Miyamoto isn’t infallible”. See also - the directive to not allow any more unique / custom interpretations of old characters in the Paper Mario series.

Oh yeah, that’s right...it’s wild that strapping an extra CPU to a mid-90s 2d-focused console resulted in such impressive results as Panzer Dragoon Saga.

I forgot about that aspect, but I wonder how often that would’ve happened in the Dreamcast’s short lifespan based on the high costs of CD burners at the time? Might be that it was more of a benefit after the fact?

This is so disappointing. I’m always baffled when developers decide that a quick and sloppy upscaling that results in that smudged look is better than the pixelated original. I’ve been playing my old PS3 lately, and many arcade ports on there did the same thing. Street Fighter 3 has some of the most gorgeous sprite

The Dreamcast, taken in isolation, was an incredible console that was ahead of its time. However, my understanding is that two things really cut it off at the knees:

I think the Saturn’s incredibly interesting and had some great games, but from what I recall it sounds like it was a nightmare to develop for, right? So that probably didn’t help its case at all.

I’d prefer they meet somewhere in the middle. I loved Arceus’ catching and overworld mechanics, the more in-depth research aspects of the Pokedex, and how vibrant the world felt. The ability to modify Pokemon movesets on the fly was fantastic, and actually made a lot of sense (why would this powerful creature forget

Man, a lot of this list falls into the good old Star Wars trope of “every loose end needs its own story! Give me a book on this nobody background character!” Which, yes, is the territory this show itself is in, but I didn’t leave the finale with nearly this many questions. Yeah, I’d be curious to see what happens with

What a ridiculous take. I’m far from the only gamer who uses “respects our time” as criteria, plenty of authors here and at other major sites do as well for all kinds of games, including the bloated new Assassin’s Creeds, Far Crys, etc. Like a lot of people who love this hobby, I’m an adult with a job and limited time

Having been incredibly intrigued by this series since Xenoblade Chronicles first came out on Wii but bouncing off each, I really hope this is the game that finally breaks free of the series’ worst habits. I’ve made it about halfway through XC two or three times before getting worn out, and got about 1/4 through XC2
