I appreciate your optimism, but my guess for this car is that the design aesthetic was conceived long before any functional benefits. This thing is 100% form over function.

My understanding is that the big ole clown shoes were added partly during KH1's development to help your eye track where Sora’s agile jumps and dodges landed, and also so his outfit called back generally to the classic Mickey design. Can't believe it took this long to get away from that choice.
Alright, if KH3 is anything to go off, we'll see this vapid trainwreck of a game in 2030 and the DLC that somewhat finishes it a year or so later. I look forward to middle-aged Haley Joel Osmond continuing to try to voice a teenager for the next 20 years it'll take to complete this arc.
I’ve been enjoying revisiting PS3 for the past few months or so, and had avoided the desire to jailbreak / mod it like I do with most of my classic consoles eventually since I have a solid back catalog of discs and digital purchases to keep me busy. But if this ends up somehow being the first step of phasing out part…
I can’t believe I’m typing these words, but...I think Square Enix is doing pretty well in this regard recently. That hasn’t been the case for a long time, far from it! But in the last couple years they’ve really diversified their output to mostly great results. Sure, FF7R will likely never be complete in our lifetimes…
I mean, obviously I’d prefer some bells and whistles, but I’m just happy this port exists for access and preservation. Chrono Cross is an interesting and lovely mess, just like many of Square’s other PS1 games. It takes a ton of flack due to its connection to Trigger, but that never bothered me. It felt like an…
Hollywood's really scraping the bottom of the barrel now, huh? I look forward to Peter Jackson's epic trilogy, Charlie the Unicorn Goes to Candy Mountain.
“Justin Bieber Proves the Bar is So Low for Men”
Agreed. I wish they’d just offer those games for sale, or even just have a $5/month PS Retro plan. I could easily get $60/year of value out of that, but probably not $120...
It’s so frustrating that the PS1, PS2, and PSP games can be downloaded to the system but presumably only through the most expensive subscription, not just normal purchases. But then again, that might mean they’d have to acknowledge that many of us had a massive collection of these games already on PS3 and Vita, why do…
*Metroid Prime 4 devs snap awake from a nap* "wait, I thought that wasn't due until Switch 2? You think it's coming out when? Shit...hey guys, quick, throw together some concept art!"
There's going to be a massive chip shortage for a long time and the Switch is still the bestselling console most months. Switch Pro makes much more sense, as it'd likely keep using mostly the same components with a few crucial upgrades, all without cannibalizing Switch's strong performance.
The only thing that could really get my attention is if the backwards compatible portion of the catalog is absolutely stacked and includes PS2 and maybe PSP as well (there's already a PSP emulator shell from previous remasters). Even then, I'd still just prefer they reinstate the massive Classics selection they built…
I was having trouble with the Leonine boss at the end of Castle Morne last night (I think I was there a bit early) and tried the Skeletal Soldiers ashes out of curiosity. They got wiped out pretty quickly due to wide sword attacks, but turns out like other skeleton enemies they revive after a bit if their remains…
“Epic raises $36 million for Ukraine in 24 hours, a sum larger than Russia’s current GDP”
I was wondering the same thing...what's the point of encouraging devs to think beyond what a GPU or PS5 can output, if the end result has to be scaled back to output on those devices? Especially if it's not streaming or cloud computing on the player side. Really doesn't make sense.
I modded my GBA about a year ago (IPS screen with new shell, buttons, and rechargeable battery) and it was so worth it. It's become one of my favorite consoles recently, and the screen really highlights the wonderful pixel art in the GBA library. The only downside is that right now retro game prices as a whole (and…
I understand your point in theory, but even as someone with a deep love for the OG GBA, that original screen is godawful and really does a disservice to the games (and the speaker isn’t much better). It’s so bad that at least one of the Castlevania games had to put a big bold highlighted border around the main…
Same! I briefly had an apartment where it made sense to set up my desk next to the TV (and therefore PC directly connected to TV through HDMI), which should be foolproof. Even with Big Picture or Launchbox, it was still a hassle of getting Windows to cooperate, etc.
I mostly watched Toonami in the early to mid 00s, so my touchstones are definitely Dragonball and DBZ, Gundam Wing, and some others. But at the time, Big O blew my mind. It's incredibly clear in retrospect that show owes Batman TAS some royalty checks, and the plot goes completely off the rails in the back half. But…
