I haven’t played this game (and don’t really plan on it, it just doesn’t look like it’s for me), but from what I’ve seen this is still nothing compared to Arkham Knight’s “Batman’s a linebacker ninja who’s probably putting a whole lot of nameless criminals in comas and wheelchairs with his giant fists and roundhouse

*Hail Mary Jane

Even though I’m currently in progress in way too many games (due to my terrible habit of losing interest in games quickly when stressed or anxious...thanks 2020!), I decided to finally try Etrian Odyssey thanks to Retronaut’s Jeremy Parish and his unending advocacy for the series. I thought I’d dip in for a couple

I’m absolutely baffled by this limited release as well, but I think I have a theory. Nintendo’s had an extremely hard time adapting to remote work during the pandemic (harder than most devs, especially in the west), which has probably greatly slowed their creative output. These Mario rereleases may have been planned

I’m usually no slouch when it comes to action games (DMC V is probably one of my favorites of the generation), but something with Control’s combat or controls just never gelled right with my brain, so I never felt the expected level of comfort with the gameplay. I love the art style and environments, I’m intrigued by

My argument (whose point apparently flew way over your head, and as many others pointed out) was primarily that blaming only anti-nuclear efforts is a fucking inane statement, when there’s an entire complex ecosystem of blame to pass around, and especially when there’s far more blame to be placed on the fossil fuel

Don’t get me wrong, the new textures look fantastic and given the scope of this game I’m sure this was a massive undertaking, so I appreciate the work. That being said, I think this game already looks incredible and has aged surprisingly well, and a great art style isn’t hindered by slightly muddy textures - which was

Considering the first nuclear reactor built for civil purposes began operation in 1954, it would take another decade or two for them to become prevalent enough to make an impact on energy usage, and the assumption that anti-nuclear activism probably didn’t have much impact until the major failures of the late ‘70s and

“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?”

If this shithole of a year has proven anything, God certainly doesn’t have our backs.

That’s a good comparison. I also had the thought while playing that it felt like a fan game, where they took the character models, movements, and physics (probably the best parts) out of a mainline Mario game, added their own “clever” twist (the FLUDD - Mario gets both a gun and a jetpack, what could possibly go

I still can’t believe they added online play but didn’t make local co-op work. Yeah, you’d probably have to rework some UI stuff, but that’s gotta be easier than creating a matchmaking system.

I’ve actually been culling podcasts just because I haven’t been listening as much as I was when I had a commute and a desk job, so now I only listen to them while doing boring chores around the house or going on walks. But I’ve also found that my tastes have changed somewhat - I don’t want to listen to political

True. I also wonder if the age of the GBC’s design means that the designs are more widely available now for 3d printing, whereas younger consoles like the GBA might not be there yet?

Glad I’m not alone! BotW has a great final dungeon and ending, so I’d recommend just ignoring all that grind for now that you seem to be hesitant about and just focusing on the main quest. You can always go back and finish the rest afterwards if you still want to, but at least you’ll have some closure.

I just started Thousand Year Door a couple weeks ago after having not played it since it came out, and I’m surprised that I’ve been fairly underwhelmed by it so far. I remember it being a good game but dragging quite a bit in places, especially in the back half. Did you enjoy it?

Nice! Oh man, I think I blocked out the memories of those block levels...I lost so many lives to the last one I played, which would have been pretty simple in most Mario games but something about the camera view just made it really hard to judge jumps and spacing with those sliding blocks knocking you into the void. I

I’ve been revisiting some Gamecube classics lately, and this week it was Mario Sunshine and Twilight Princess. I have a lot of fond memories of Mario Sunshine from my teenage years, especially for the insane acrobatics you could pull off with the FLUDD, but I’m surprised to be having a very different experience now.

While I like the concept of this and the other similar Wii mods I’ve seen lately, I’m always disappointed by the ergonomics. The D-pad and right stick are so far down on the console - for any of the many games that constantly use the right stick for camera control (Zelda, Metroid, action games, etc) it seems like that

I’m in the same boat, so I completely agree. Thankfully for you, I seem to remember Fallen Order being relatively short and concise, which was a breath of fresh air from a single player AAA game. Enjoy knocking that one off your list! I’m currently maybe 8 hrs into Crosscode and have hit the point where I’m realizing
