Same...with the recent batch of rumors of an upgraded Switch possibly coming in Q1 2021, if that happens I’d think that would be great timing for BotW2 to combat the next gen consoles. I’m not sure it’s actually likely, but it’s nice to dream. (Plus that would mean, coincidentally or otherwise, that all three main

Serious question...has a game title ever needed two colons / had two subtitles like this? Could you not just call it Call of Duty: Cold War and still get the point across? (maybe at the bottom it says “The Black Ops Saga” or something to denote the series branch)

HZD loads when I start the game, when I die (not often at all, maybe once every other play session), or when I fast travel (once an hour on average, if that?). I really don’t mind that loading time either, it’s like 30 seconds...so the upgrade might save me a minute or two tops every time I play? Woo, where do I

Twilight Princess and Breath of the Wild were both system sellers, but that might be unfair since both bridged console generations (it’d be like if the first or second Last of Us was delayed a few months and did the same for Sony).

Like for everyone else, gaming has been a lifeline for what little sanity I have left in this fucking hellscape, but I can’t even pretend to give two shits about next-gen. The Switch’s resounding success seems to point to people preferring experiences over pure graphical power, but that’s all that MS and Sony are

Really cool to see the old SaGa games getting a collection, I’ve always been curious about those since they seem like strange old gems. Otherwise, super weird to release a KH music game that features recaps of all those games you can’t experience on a Nintendo system yet (Square, come on).

I think this is fantastic, although as others here have mentioned, I doubt the 4k aspect of this rumor is going to happen without using checkerboarding or some other clever technical workaround (plus the statement says they’ve “looked into” 4k, which of course they have, doesn’t mean it’s included). As someone who

I completely agree. I’ve put way more time into my Switch than my PS4, even though I’ve owned the latter for three more years. So if a Switch Pro can provide a better experience and extend the lifespan of this amazing console, I’m there day one.

Everyone who might be tempted by this - don’t buy retro consoles from fucking Woot of all places. First off, these are overpriced, and second, nobody needs to give Bezos more money (Amazon owns Woot, which is a dried husk of its former self now). Instead, go support your local gaming stores - mine in Minneapolis is

I had that same thought...I’ve been buying Gamecube games for the past couple years, and you can still find them easily on eBay or Offerup for half this price. I got mine in amazing condition for $40 with all the cords.

Retro game prices here have risen incredibly fast, but the Gamecube’s on another level for whatever reason - the prices have skyrocketed in the past year or so. For example, Paper Mario TTYD was about $40 a year or two ago, now it’s more usually around $120.

Prior to this generation, I was very much in the physical collection camp, but between moving multiple times, going through bouts of minimalism, and the crushing sense of an infinite backlog, I’m now firmly in the digital mindset for probably 95% of my game purchases. The only exceptions tend to be those that are

Certainly doesn't help Apple's case that Microsoft's claim in this is most likely centered around Apple's recent rejection of xCloud and other game streaming apps that could be seen as competition for their own Arcade service, cementing the gaming monopoly on their own devices.

I can’t decide if it’s a side effect or an instigating factor, but the PS1 and PS2 era certainly feels like games became more needlessly convoluted in order to both pad overall length and increase sales of strategy guides (maybe publishers got a cut?). There was certainly a lot of interesting experimentation and

Chrono Cross and FFVIII are certainly very interesting gameplay experiences, but that does not instantly mean that they’re particularly good or gel together well. Having played both recently, I appreciate their ambition and like aspects of both, but each is a hot mess in a lot of ways. Chrono Cross gets by on a lot of

I mean, they’ve been out of production for a while, and even while the Vita was still being produced it was basically on life support. (I say this all as a longtime Vita owner with a lovely little classic JRPG machine that I should use more often)

Streets of Rage 4 is on Game Pass, so if you have an Xbox or PC you could always spend a few bucks for a month’s pass and try it that way (along with tons of other great games).

My bad, you’re right - I just remembered Arc’s logo in the intro and figuring that’s why it played so well. Thanks for the correction.

Seriously though, more people need to play River City Girls, that game is far better than it has any right to be. And it’s made by Arc System, so the actually beat-em-up gameplay is fantastic.

I seem to remember the game having much more defined story arcs than most games, so it’d definitely make sense to end an arc and take a break for a while, especially since the game can be so heavy on routines and repetition.
