I think both Final Fantasy fans and PSP owners were pretty damn thirsty in 2007.

After finishing FFVII Remake the other day, the most AAA of AAA games, and while having a rather stressful week, I wanted some more of that JRPG goodness in the most primal watch-the-numbers-go-up-to-feel-accomplished way. I was already about ten hours into Lost Odyssey, but the actual experience of playing that game…
Such an amazing fight. In addition to what was listed above, I also enjoyed that this fight really forces you to keep track of all three party members to a level that wasn’t required before. All the stage hazards and various projectiles mean that you need to keep Aerith out of harm’s way, whereas in most fights your…
All would normally be fair points, and yet here you are in the comments of an article that spoils the bejeezus out of the ending, in the comments section that’s further spoiling the same ending. Your comment is literally in a thread surrounded by endgame spoilers. Don’t get offended at me for assuming some baseline…
The key phrase is more conclusive than expected. If they ended at the point where they leave Midgar in the original without the new meta portions, it would feel far less conclusive - a To Be Continued screen right as the world opens up. At least this gives some direction as to the larger narrative, which is far more…
I mean, you’re a trio with a giant sword, bare fists, and a gun arm fighting against a trio with a giant sword, bare fists, and a gun arm. The Assess summaries for each even hint at each of the characters. The AC villain trio use a small katana, bare fists with a weird amplifier device thing, and a handgun, so it…
My mistake, you’re right. I was curious why I thought that and realized it came up before:
Yeah, I get that. The only way I see it working is if the characters’ pasts aren’t affected (timey-wimey shenanigans), as if they’ve stepped into a new timeline fully intact. Cloud’s character is so intrinsically tied to him taking on Zack’s persona as a response to deep trauma that removing that plotline doesn’t…
Agreed. And they didn’t just feel cowardly but also lazy and attention-seeking - it’s like if GRRM put what he thought was crucial info in italics (it’s gonna be a red wedding, wink wink). If Cloud’s cold-blooded instincts are compelling him to kill Reno in order to minimize future threats, that’s a really interesting…
First of all, I 100% agree that this game is incredibly anti-newcomer, which seems absurd. The end credits may as well have included a link to buy the original on PSN. But even as someone who has played the original countless times in the past 20+ years, the “fight against fate” portion feels wildly unnecessary to me…
...uh, yeah, it’s pretty well known that this game only includes the Midgar portion of the original game (so only the first 25% or so), even the developer has publicly announced that multiple times. While it feels more conclusive than expected, it’s still very much To Be Continued. It’s pretty disingenuous of SE to…
I (and every explainer video I’ve seen so far) have assumed that those three bosses are versions of Cloud, Tifa, and Barret from some kind of far future, trying to preserve the “victory” of the original timeline.
This is a supremely dumb comparison, because this instance is the finale of a game, as opposed to being 25% into a game that keeps on going right after this point. Who cares what you knew at this point in the original, because the original story didn’t go on pause for 2+ years once you left Midgar.
As others have mentioned, you don’t need to actually use the materia for it to gain AP, you get AP along with experience for each battle. So it shouldn’t affect your strategy.
Same here. If I could somehow get my Steam Link to work with GOG, I’d never have to open Steam again.
Yeah, but I’m sure an organization focused on retro games would be pretty skilled at replacing them if needed. My understanding is that’s pretty easy.
*sees a giant bin full of beautiful FF6 cartridges, longs for one himself, for a moment wishes he was a Japanese teenager, feels concerned about that thought, turns on SNES Classic and starts playing the rom instead*
Yeehaw, time to install this and only make it a third through again when I realize that it all feels like a waste of time and I don’t care about any of the characters. Good thing I’ve got the first RDR on my Xbox One as well.
Weird, I’ve been using PC Game Pass for a few months and haven’t had any issues with it. Sorry you haven’t been able to enjoy it.
For real! Besides FF7 Remake I haven’t touched my PS4 in ages, because I’ve been loving the Game Pass and backwards compatible selection so much on Xbox.
