I like that they specifically called out countries and states that are getting absolutely hammered. What an insane move that only puts their staff in danger.

Besides mainlining the FF7 Remake like the raw nostalgia cocaine that it is, I’ve been avoiding the rest of my shiny new game backlog (sorry, Control and Disco Elysium) by repeating one of my worst recurring gaming habits: sampling an hour or so of half a dozen classic JRPGs I’ve wanted to play in order to see what

I loved this scene, but I feel like Cloud was too immediately into the dancing as soon as he starts moving. It would have been more in character for him to be moving a little more reluctantly before giving in to the music. That being said, I think the idea that someone watched Cloud fighting and realized that his

Sweet Jesus. They did it. The crazy bastards finally did it. They’ve given us the keys to the whole damn thing. Can’t wait to see what maniacal worlds the best creators can put us through.

Personally, I’m wanting the opposite - a 64 remake in Odyssey.

I know this is the deals page (which lives and dies by commerce clicks), but considering something like 80% of the US population lives paycheck-to-paycheck and most don’t have $400 to cover an unexpected emergency even when the economy’s not falling apart in a global pandemic with no visible end, I’m going to say that

So true. I’ve been really surprised at just how smoothly and well this gorgeous game runs on my base PS4, so I kind of wonder if they had to “over” optimize some of the larger and more complex areas (Sectors 5 & 7, Wall Market, etc) just to keep the framerate stable. Given the complexity and scope of the game, maybe

Very good point, I didn’t think about photogrammetry!

Wish the air conditioning modelers could’ve helped out the NPC modelers, because...holy shit, they’re a mixed bag. And so generic. It really pulls me out of the immersion when my intricately-detailed-super-HD-protag-with-a-seven-foot-long-sword is getting quests from a bland custom character from THPS 4.

I get that. I watched the OG series last summer when it was put on Netflix, and...it was certainly...something. (It gives me a very similar reaction to trying to decipher Kingdom Hearts)

I’m not here to complain or sob, just...share, I guess. I got laid off yesterday from the first place I’ve ever been proud to work for, a place where I’d bought into the company culture and thought I’d done well. But projects were slowing down, so a 10% staff cut across the board was deemed necessary by someone much

Instead of the angels, shouldn't each one just show Shinji, REI, or Asuka curled up in a ball having a crippling existential crisis? And nothing you do can pull them out of it?

All I want is some goddamn folders.

Congrats on the first playthrough! My copy doesn’t arrive until tomorrow, but I’m assuming he’s handled similarly as he was in the original. Barret’s a great character, and while he’s introduced in a strange way with all that Mr T bravado, by 1/3 through the original game he gains tons of depth, humility, and nuance.

Barret: “AVALANCHES DON’T CLOSE DOORS, THEY BLOW ‘EM RIGHT THE F*CK OPEN, YA SPIKY-HAIRED ASSHOLE”
Cloud: “Okay fine, I’ll stop closing doors.”

From what I’ve seen, that seems to be a texture loading bug rather than an art design / modeling failure, so most likely that will be patched at some point.

Gaming’s my primary hobby and basically a second job at this point based on time spent, and I probably put 15-20 hrs per week of that into PC gaming using my DS4. And no matter whether it’s sitting in a chair or on the couch, that works great for me, because its 6-8 hr charge (still working great after 6 years) is

Those first hundred hours...

My TV remote uses a watch battery that I’ve never had to change. I use my phone as a flashlight if needed and have a big Ryobi shop light that’s rechargeable. My smoke detectors use 9v. While I have a few oddball devices that use AAAs (wireless mouse, digital scale, etc), the only thing in my entire house that uses
