My TV remote uses a watch battery that I’ve never had to change. I use my phone as a flashlight if needed and have a big Ryobi shop light that’s rechargeable. My smoke detectors use 9v. While I have a few oddball devices that use AAAs (wireless mouse, digital scale, etc), the only thing in my entire house that uses

Uhm, the last devices I had that used AAs in my house were the Wiimotes and Balance Board, which I haven’t owned in at least half a decade (and hadn’t used regularly for years before that), so once those were gone I didn’t have a need to keep my rechargeable AAs. I’m perfectly happy not having to manage batteries.

I can see that. After years of hearing about the Xbox controller’s superiority, I’m really surprised that a brand new official controller is insanely clicky, almost to the point that it feels cheap. Not a dealbreaker, but very strange.

Obviously I have, but the last thing I owned that needed AAs were Wiimotes and the Balance Board which I gave away years ago, so I gave away the rechargeable batteries at the same time because I didn’t need them beyond that. My TV remote has used the same watch battery since I bought it four years ago. I guess my

Considering how many pro-battery posts are swarming these comments, I’m genuinely starting to wonder if there was some kind of nefarious brainwashing shadow campaign by Energizer and Duracell to Xbox players...my replies on what I thought was reasonable experience were almost entirely “BLASPHEMER THE ACT OF OPENING A

As someone who’s owned all three systems this gen, I want to chime in here. I’ve been totally fine with the DS4's battery life this gen - it’s not amazing, but I, and I assume most people, have a side table next to my couch that has an outlet nearby, so there’s a charging cable there that I simply plug into, and

On the one hand, I’m glad they’re finally going beyond the PS1's controller 25 year old template and focusing on comfort, etc. Not that I have any issues with the PS4 controller, but I can see how it could be better. But it’s odd to see them at least visually (and maybe functionally? hard to tell) call back to the

Damn, I just gave in and bought it on PC over the weekend! Oh well, I guess it’s not clear how long I’d have to keep waiting for that port.

It says something about this administration’s actions over the past few years that I felt a palpable sense of surprise and relief at that incredibly logical and basically humane release schedule prioritizing lower incomes first.

I decided to treat myself with a couple new games, so I finally bought Disco Elysium and RE2 at Steam’s sale and Control at Epic’s sale. I feel a little guilty spending money on frivolous things like that, but we’ve tightened up the rest of our budget as much as we can at this point even though our incomes haven’t

Square Marketing: Okay, it’s a remake of a 20 year old game, so we should be safe to include all these juicy plot points. These will definitely get people excited!

Who knew all you had to do was unlock FF7's secret crafting system by beating the Battle Square 77x in a row, use that system to combine two phoenix downs, and that would unlock the emotional revival scene. I can’t believe they finally kissed!!! Poor Tifa!

When the quarantine finally lifts, many of us will glance out the window, hiss at the world, and just stay inside to avoid the whole lot of them.

Ah yes, well you know, sacrifices must be made in times like these, sacrifices for the greater good! The wheels of commerce and creation must continue to turn, for those wheels are the very inertia of modern life! And that is why, in the face of all disaster and disease that may be thrown at you, God’s work must

My wife and I have been grappling with that question as well. We had our groceries delivered for the first time this week, and after placing the order we had a long back and forth about the ethics of protecting ourselves from risk (ideally being better at social distancing by staying at home and providing fewer

I mean, from a purely thematic point I know I’m not currently in the right headspace for a grim and emotionally devastating journey through a dystopian hellscape where hell is other people, because that’s just life at this point. And considering how well Animal Crossing is doing, I’d venture a guess that I’m not alone

I don’t think so, because from the trailers it seems like Aerith sees them too. They could be replacing the failed Sephiroth clones (which would be weird) or be a new foreboding element (but I’m not sure which part of the plot needed dementors - maybe a very blunt visualization of the damaged lifestream / cries of the

I’m already getting some mild alternate universe vibes from the trailers, like the fact that Aerith has a flower stepped on in the opening cinematic, all the dumb ghost things, etc. I wouldn’t doubt that they’d be bold enough to change a major plot point.

OMG I can’t believe it! Episode 1 ends with Cloud dying and Aeris mournfully putting him to rest before picking up his buster sword herself and swearing vengeance! SO HYPED FOR EPISODE 2!

I’m fairly used to working remotely as my job was pretty flexible about it long before all this happened, but even I’m losing track of the days and seeing my typical routines fall apart pretty quickly. My normal self-care options just aren’t doing it either, so I’m trying more “active” things (rather than consuming
