I could also imagine the inverse though - depending on how much effort it would take to port and rework the second screen features, they may see it as a way to better recoup some of the development costs and give the game a second life.

Fair point, especially for the PS2. I always liked the Gamecube hardware a lot better than the Wii, but there are clear advantages.

Agreed, especially about World of Light. I just passed the halfway point and things are getting more interesting, especially since I pushed the difficulty up to hard (taking most matches from a breeze to a solid challenge).

I’d love to play TMS, but according to VGChartz the game only sold a whopping 170k copies in the US (and somehow only 80k copies in Japan), with only 330k total worldwide sales. I know Atlus releases some niche games, but it seems like this might be a niche too far (pop idol + SMT + Fire Emblem) even for them.

As another former Wii U owner (there were dozens of us!) I just can’t get excited about NSMBUD. Those games are solid platformers, but they just never grabbed me. I know it’s a big title, but man, it feels so disappointing that they didn’t use this opportunity to bring over 3d World instead. I’m sure they will

That’s a damn good year. I’ve been tempted to jump back into retro gaming like that as well, so I’m jealous! Have fun with the PSP, which is tragically underrated - especially if you’re into JRPGs, that system is absolutely swimming in them. (I just got a Dreamcast and Genesis myself, and while I love Crazy Taxi, I’m

I agree with some points in this article, but I think there are a couple of points to expand upon / add:

For the record, I just ignore JK at this point - she’s gone so far off the rails on all these additions to canon (let alone written five goddamn movies about Newt fucking Scamander) that it’s easy enough to tell myself that none of it matters, and if it did matter, it would’ve been in the goddamn books.

...I mean, maybe? But world was literally destroyed, everybody died, and nobody (aside from the two main assholes) have any chance to fight for anything anymore.

...so your logic in the original comment was something like this?

I’ve struggled through so many JRPGs that are dull and I just don’t enjoy because of that phrase, and it’s shit. If a game isn’t enjoyable or worthwhile for the first 40 hrs, why on earth would I want to stick around for the next 40 hrs? It’s already outstayed its welcome at that point. I wish more JRPGs could have

I watched the entire season of Devilman Crybaby when I saw everyone gushing over it, and though I didn’t really like the first couple of episodes I kept going. And then it went from dislike to hate. I just do not understand why people like this so much, or why they talk about it like it’s full of passion and energy.

I’ve given a couple of valiant efforts in trying to get into Horizon, and I’m not sure I get the appeal either. The story’s fine and the overarching concept is cool, but every time I play it feels like it’s just ticking open world game boxes, and it’s sooo much crafting and fetch quests...

I played the game at launch (enjoyed it, but definitely understand people’s gripes with it), but have yet to play the DLC or any of the revamped content. I’m actually trying to wait for Episode Ardyn for my replay, but I’ll also be jumping in through NG+ so I can hopefully just focus on the story.

Out of your list, many have aged better than others, but any shooter on N64 is godawful to play, especially compared to modern standards. Goldeneye’s the best of the lot, and it’s still very rough. It’s also highly unlikely that Nintendo would get permission for DK64, DKR, Banjo, and Goldeneye from Rare, considering

That’s a good point. I’ve been getting the itch to buy a PS2 and get back into the PS1/PS2 libraries, but when I look back through their libraries, most of the games that I would actually want to revisit (especially with the PS1) have been iterated on and improved in later games that would be more enjoyable to play.

I really hope that’s the case, especially since the Classics weren’t just a stopgap for VC but also to fill time between the sad end of the Wii U and the Switch’s launch, so they’ve fulfilled their purpose. It’s clear that there’s a huge nostalgia demand for these games, and pretty soon they’re going to run out of

Not having the balls to finally delete Facebook. Unfortunately my parents / grandparents still post there a lot, and it’s still a great way to stay in touch with friends. But I’ve scaled back to the point where I only glance at it once or twice a week, especially once I realized I mostly went there just to find

Sure, lots of those games are still classics, but notice that of your list of 8 games, 2 are JRPGs, 3 are 2d platformers, 1 is a fighter, and the other two (THPS and Twisted Metal) don’t have to deal with camera / platforming issues. Few of these are actually typical 3d polygonal games, which is likely a big part of wh

Very true. Also, you can’t sell an N64 Classic with only two controllers, so including four would not only make this thing really expensive, it’d also be a huge box.
