The radio chatter as the killer guard enters his shift mentions a small wildfire that’s broken out in the county outside Castle Rock. Probably nothing

When he was around 12, he was kidnapped by his father and taken somewhere for 11 days, after which he returned, unharmed.

It’s a recurring symbol of hidden evil in Twin Peaks, particularly FWWM

I guess it’s a well that King has gone to before, but I’d just as soon assume there was some secret devil worship or something.

His public persona is “goth eccentric” without any of the conviction or genuine feeling of, say, Crispin Glover. The man’s actual best friend is Marilyn Manson

You really ought to watch The Terror if you haven’t yet.

A couple of things to note:

This show is going to give me nightmares. Six dollars? For a *Coors???*

If there’s any one thing responsible for that change it’s been the rise of UFC and the attendant shift in common notions of what a fighting man’s physique is supposed to be. People try and pin it on the naked Brad Pitt scene from Fight Club but even then, superhero / action movie guys were swollen WWE types.

Jackie Treehorn is in this ???

How does a funkasaurus even think for one second that he could big time anybody

I gotta restate that Luke didn’t really have an arc this season or any solidly defined principles, for that matter, that would justify where this season takes him. Luke’s rise to being the new Stokes in town doesn’t work because this doesn’t feel like the culmination or nadir of a plot - it’s just something that

It’s also weird how they slot this episode in such that an irreversible catastrophe in the Jamaican community strikes and it takes more than an hour of show time for Bushmaster, the guy it was committed to attack, to even know it happened.

At the very least, the scene with Turk clearly indicates that this show is wise to Danny Rand’s insufferability the way his own show isn’t.

I think Alfre Woodard almost pulls off Mariah’s change. The actor is there, the justification is there. Her big climactic play to go legit, monetarily and reputationally, was utterly ruined right as she was certain of success, and she’s utterly defeated by a man whose essential purpose is to force her to remember and

Literally! Literally a high school mean girl!

I disagree about Tilda being heartless with Mariah during their scene. Tilda as played and placed within the plot is kind of useless and unjustified, but she isn’t precisely meant to be read as petulant or judgmental, at least in that scene. She’s a character who up to that point has maintained a doomed hope that

This is where the show get baffling temporally / spatially. It seems like they wanted to establish a sense of being trapped or under siege with the Rand building setting, but then Luke and Misty have a talk and we cut to the police station where Misty has just walked in. I had to rewind that a time or two to make sure

And yet at various points Luke declares his intention to stay out of it! He’s all over the place.

It really sucks how it ends up squandered in the end.
