What can be done to resolve the increasing sense of division in the world (or to at least keep the divide from being worse)?

I have a gut feeling a sizeable number of people working here are just listening to their overlords to get paid. I don’t blame them either. But it is unfortunate that this is how the online world works these days. Whatever happened to the days of thinking for yourself?

And even articles that have nothing to do with Trump or whatever ridiculous stuff he is doing are based off of dread over him. Like I said, look around and you’ll see plenty of “world is horrible” or “fuck this, we’re not going to see 2019" or whatever else.

It is not unique, you are right about that. But the big problem is that the AV Club had been very adamant on being true to itself over the years. It just feels like the site has abandoned its original goal.

I used to be critical of people being critical of the AV Club all the time. I just thought they were whiny and overly demanding. Well, times have changed.

The only thing that is surprising anymore in this wave of celebrity predators being brought to justice is the fact that Dan Schneider hasn’t been brought to justice in this wave.

When I was at Riot Fest in Chicago in 2016, they stopped serving meats at the concession stands and food trucks a few hours before Morrissey was to go on stage. I was surprised that Morrissey even showed up after the festival catered to him. This story just shows how impossible it is for anyone to work with this

Just because you can write a song about social issues doesn’t mean you should. Remember that Accidental Racist song from a few years back?

“Hiiiiiis favorite movie is Turner and Hooooooch!!!”

The saddest thing is that lots of these people who are boycotting the NFL over the anthem protests are people who were hoping that Zach Miller was not “one of them” when his leg was on the verge of amputation and that Jerry Jones bowed down to the “plantation” when his team came out in a sign of symbolism following

“because any Chicago style pizza is always at the bottom of any list”

At least the NFL broadcasters aren’t trying to make jokes about the shows. I don’t think I am all that concerned about Spero Dedes’ opinions on 9JKL.

It’s surely made a huge impact. I even saw a Ghostbusters slot machine the last time I was in Las Vegas two years ago...and several casinos on the Strip had it! (then again, there’s also an Ellen slot for some reason)

There’s plenty of weak stuff out there (can’t say i’m a fan of what you mentioned) but there’s good stuff too. Jimmy Two-Shoes is extremely underrated and Chuck’s Choice (see avatar) is awesome too.

When I was in Toronto this summer, I saw something on the TV in the hotel about what would happen if Canada never existed and how medical developments of all sorts would never have happened because of these Canadian ties to them. And they showed scenes where the world was in chaos due to a lack of Canada...and Dan

It always reminds me of one of my favorite Onion stories of all time:

“Aw, I couldn’t get through the fun maze puzzle! Now I’ll never get the treasure.” “The time we spend together is treasure enough.”

Who wrote that headline, Shaun Mullins?

This is an excellent and civilized response and I am glad people are speaking out without adding fuel to the right’s fire. It really hurts when people who want to “aim high” do the opposite in the process.

Cartoon Brew is a golden example of a “downhill since (name of person) left” site. At least Jerry Beck is still busy in the industry.
