I wouldn’t bank on the “Ford Europe will ride to the rescue” theory. If Ford is willing to cut what was considered a core market out of its US operations then they would be perfectly willing to drop a low growth market if it suffers another set back. Just look back on their sale of the premier auto group in 2009...
I imagine the car was foreign to them but they could service it because things like the drive train were typical Ford.
The problem was it was an LR engine. Ford stopped letting them do things on there own after that...
That was disappointing, the focus and fusion were good cars (full disclosure I went with a Mazda 3 instead) but the very warmed over Honda and Toyota’s kept on getting the sales. I though it would eventualy turn out like 80's GM for them but I guess not.
That’s entirely what this is, Fields found himself out in the cold simply because the stock price wasn’t going anywhere. Personally Ford is undervalued but the perpetual hype machine that is Tesla has sucked all the oxygen out of the room despite being a niche automaker that has yet to make a profit...
I’m a Ford fan but those “30s” pushrods allow them to cram 6+ liters were Ford can only fit 5. As for the “stupid charger” words cannot describe my sorrow for the wrongness of that opinion...
The V8 pony cars are rolling around with mid 400's so... shrug worthy? It even weighs almost as much 3450 vs 3747 for an 1LE.
Good luck with that.
X2 I’m scratching my head over the slew of articles over what’s a pretty meh worthy special edition. This is the 4th maybe 5th now? All for a trim even the subi fans are having trouble getting excited about. Its like Jalopnik is pushing this thing regardless of actual interest hmm...
I didn’t want to insult them by proclaiming that they met their demise due to the C4. That’s just shameful.
Little known factoid the limestone in our water is supposedly the basis for both the horse and bourbon industry.
Is great? Have you seen them in person? Their problem is no one is buying sedans aside from the old Mercedes owner trading in for the new one. Extremely poor timing on Lincolns part.
The “new rear-wheel drive unibody we haven’t seen yet” part peaked my interest. Ford hasn’t had an “all new” RWD uni body since the DEW-98 (Jaguar XJ/Lincoln LS). They’ve been evolving it for almost 20 years for the mustang.
X2 This looks like its ready to go. Less concept more pilot run.
