If wagoneers are anything like their XJ successors, there is practically nothing to the cooling system. Provided the motor is intact, JB weld the crack/ replace the hose/ apply the gasket maker add some water and get back on the road.

I would expect every new vehicle to last at least 200K without a significant repair. (Significant being drive train failure not including a clutch change.) There are plenty of 90s beater on the road with this mileage and QC has only improved since.
They’re right. Batteries are a terribly ineffective fuel source (energy to mass) but electric motors are extremely efficient. The best combination will be a hybrid for quiet some time. Hybrids give you the best of both worlds, energy dense gasoline and torquey electric motors.
An awful motor for Ford but it seems to have worked out for jaguar after some updates.
Keep in mind the 22000 were participants, if we want to frame it as a public health issue it would be number of fatalities vs the population of LA and then street racing isn’t on the radar. Long story short, it’s bad but resources and outrage would be better spent on smoking, high blood pressure, murder rate, etc.
And your point?
This math doesn’t make you case. 18 killed (high figure from 2007) divided by 22,000 people involved (CHP figure from last year) gives you a .08% chance of dying from street racing. Using your numbers street racing is surprisingly safe...
I always wondered about that, airplane piston motors always seemed antiquated vs their automotive brethren. Something had to be stopping honda et al from moving into that market. Auto and boat motors are pretty interchangeable ie Mercury Marine is known for their boat motors.
For those of us not in California this isn’t a problem.
The 6.2 is a SOHC. Its basically a giant modular motor with decent bore spacing.
I understood it as one of those good idea poor execution moments, happens to the best of us and even his budget isn’t unlimited. To go back and fix that that oops would not be cheap post painting.
They killed SVT... its STs turn now.
Eh the 2005 GT is a faster soloII car than an IRS equipped 2001 Cobra so whats your point? I think its more about the sum of chassis and suspension improvements rather than the choice of axles out back.

Does ford even make an open 8.8?
Kinja won’t let me edit this one. Read that as drag off not to. My snarky comment makes no sense now...
