I have neighbors who have a young, highly energetic dog that they have hired a dog walker to take out at lunch (presumably so it doesn't go apeshit.) They both are runners. I've NEVER seen them run with their dog. I suggested it once and they had some excuse about it being too difficult to train him to run with them.
