Probably so. Truly free speech is often a dicey proposition.

Oh, I dunno. There’s plenty of other crazy content in that movie that’s obviously too out there for anyone even now. The only thing I can think of that comes remotely close to being like “Pink Flamingos” is the “Squidbillies”.
I met John Waters at a book signing. He’d been there for hours, meeting fans one at a time. He stopped and talked to me about his recent trip to Finland and was amazingly nice.
What always strikes me as odd is the actual generation who went to fight WWII also came up with “Operation Petticoat”, “Hogan’s Hero’s”, “What Did You Do in the War, Daddy?”, and “The Wackiest Ship in the Army”among other lighthearted comedies about that war which would probably be seen as extremely insensitive if…
Pretty much all of Europe is Socialized these days. Would’t really call that a “failure”.
Have you ever seen the films? I would hardly call them “junk”. As jaded and cynical as this reviewer is, and I totally disagree with his review, is it possible you can be wrong?
I was 15 when the original Star Wars came out in ‘77. I can remember seeing an ad for it in the newspaper about a month before it was released. My friends and I thought it looked like some stupid, low budget sci-fi movie, like the one’s from the 1950's and 60's. We didn’t think much of it.
Make you a deal. I won’t call you an uptight prude if you allow that totally normal people in stable relationships can keep momentous of the past without their partners being too concerned. Different people, different rules.
I’m guessing you’re no older than 35, Nilus. Possibly way younger.
Not on my watch. Still fighting the good fight.
Where do you draw the line? ALL pictures of exes? Throw out the high school yearbook because it has an old love note in it from over a decade ago? Or mention it and confess you’ve looked at it every five years or so when you clean the attic? Do they ever get to see porn or look at other nudes? Do they always need to…
Pffft. Seriously? If someone is so threatened by pictures of exes who are very ex, and the pictures are 99% out of sight and mind? Let it go. Be mature and stop worrying about something that’s a memory for one of you. Sounds like they have doubts about their partner if a few obscure pics are a problem.
Invading Africa, Asia, Austrailia, America, both North and South. Then asking everyone who originally lived there to be second class citizens and/or slaves. Not letting women before the last 120 years have anything like the same rights or access to education or work. Stuff like that. And, no, it’s not “all better”…
All of the “How to Train Your Dragon” stuff. It’s consistently good, even through multiple sequels and a long running TV show. Even though it’s for kids, it has appeal to adults as well. The characters are diverse, and the message is always to care for the creatures around you.
I’m guessing you’re being dry and ironic here.
I agree. I thought it was one of the best episodes I’ve seen in a while. And that’s saying a lot. SP is one of the few long running shows I believe has kept it’s quality through the years and in some ways improved. Much like “The Venture Brothers”.
“With a few decades of hindsight, it’s pretty clear that the baby boomer generation did not radically change society”
