I’m with you. Nobody ever changed their vote to the guy that just called them “stupid.”

But that’s not going to happen! Some dipshit named “PoopPeeFart” on the Interwebz calling them “stoopid!” isn’t going to make them feel stupid, and isn’t going to help get votes for someone else. Many of these same people voted for Barack Obama. Sometimes twice! We want their votes. We want them to feel like they’re

Same reaction here; though, I did read the article that said that after the Charleston Massacre, Georgia’s governor attempted to change the tenor of the holiday, so that was at least something nice:

Well-played, troll. I tip my hat.

Yes, The Tyger is by William Blake, but it wasn’t quoted or referenced by others. The Second Coming, quoted by @Cunctator at the beginning of this thread, is by William Butler Yeats.

The centre cannot hold...mere anarchy is loosed on the world...

Actually, Twee Hipster Nonsense are playing at Eddy’s Local this weekend. It’s gonna be a blast!

Catching up with back episodes now. Did you ever listen to Lars Brownworth’s podcast 12 Byzantine Emperors? It was fantastic. In his introduction, he claimed that too often, the study of history is about movements and large cultural shifts, and he wanted to look at individuals. As a layperson and not a historian, I

Thank you for sharing. That’s an amazing story.

Actually, thanks for the link to Rational Wiki. Seems like a fun site.

Just read this today:

In Virginia, it is explicitly allowed under one condition: you may not exceed the speed limit to do it. That’s in the manual. Or at least is was the last time I read it, which was, admittedly, some time ago.

I mostly agree with you, but I do have to say one thing: police training in the US is abominable. It’s good that you call it “alleged”, because that’s about as good as it gets. I get frustrated with the way police behave, but honestly, these are often kids in their early 20s getting more on-the-job training than

The non-English parts are close-captioned, unless I linked the wrong video, like an idiot. Oh, well.

This is a shmaltzy ad for a television station in Denmark, but I can’t stop thinking about how it doesn’t try to “un-box” people so much as show how there are always different boxes for people to occupy and find common ground:

But he does it defiantly.

As a Tolkien nerd, the first one made me happy. As a D&D nerd, I missed “The Scouring of the Shire” where they come back as high-level characters. As an idiot, I have no problem with Tom Bombadil.

Well, it can be the life of the Avs, you know?

I’m usually on I-95 in Georgia (Atlanta’s over on I-85), and I like I-95 in Georgia so much better than SC, NC, VA, or FL. It’s 3-lanes each way for most of it. Going South, it’s such a welcome relief after NC and SC.

Time fails. It has to repeat the grade.
