It’s kind of the opposite? SPOILER, but the chosen cat is already old and implied to be close to death. By getting chosen for Cat Heaven, she gets to be young again. The implication seems to be that being “reborn” basically just resets your lifespan back to day one, so you get another 13-17 years to do Cat Stuff.
