Talk about bush gardens šŸ˜‚

It frustrates me that many conservatives complain about ā€œbig governmentā€ and want to dismantle or gut programs like the EPA, or FEMA, or the USDAā€™s food safety arm. But then let there be a natural disaster, or an outbreak of E. coli, or a death on a waterslide, and everybody says, ā€œWhy, oh why, was this terrible ride aā€¦

ā€œNot only did the ride reportedly not work properly on open day (a raft leapt off the track in the same way Schwabā€™s eventually would, touching the netting at the top intended to keep passengers from flying out, which Henry denies), but...ā€

He never got a conventional education beyond high school and never formally studied physics or engineering. And that never worried the people around him. ā€œThat would be like someone being concerned that Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg doesnā€™t have a college degree,ā€ his brother told me. ā€œThe people that have a spark ofā€¦

Read the link at the end, the full story here explains what happened. I suspect a lot of people want to avoid the grisly details, so they werenā€™t included.

When I was a grade school kid I went on a waterslide on a family vacation (LOLZ with my horrible family) and at the beginning the rubber mat slipped out from under me somehow and I slid down the entire thing on my skin and it was concrete and my body was one big bleeding brush burn. And my parents made me apologize toā€¦

Hereā€™s a little internet blurb with a simple hereā€™s how physics works 101 diagram. Like I didnā€™t even take physics in high school, but I took astronomy for liberal arts and even Iā€™m like how fucking dumb are you:

Six Flags was founded in Texas! Thatā€™s where the name comes from: itā€™s a reference to the six flags that have flown over Texas territory in its history:Ā Spain, Mexico, its own when it was its own republic, one Iā€™m forgetting, the US, and the Confederate.

If you live in a state like California or Florida, your parks are probably fine because Disney is setting the standards.

Itā€™s in the article - not internal

Texas has several Six Flags parks, including at least one water park that Iā€™m aware of. The trickle down in oversight to the non-Six Flags parks / standard settingĀ may be minimal.

You can go down that google rabbit hole if you want. Iā€™ve seen the pictures.

True story:

ā€œwantonā€. Damn, Dude....now Iā€™m hungry for wontons.

Makes me feel very good about Cedar Point, as I spent many a lovely day there as a child in ā€˜70s.

So, the guy who designed the ride

Kansas law allows a water park like Schlitterbahn to self-inspect themselves

About 30 years ago, I knew a guy who worked for a fastener supplier who had the Cedar Point amusement park account. Standard procedure at the park was to replace every critical bolt and nut with aircraft grade hardware on every ride before opening day every year and to ā€œwalkā€ the ride every operational morning toā€¦
