Gerber was one of my fave Marvel writers; Englehart is a close second. Both worked on The Defenders, and Englehart did an incredible run on Captain America.

“My child...try not to suck any dick on the way out of the castle!”

I knew I had something in common with Kevin Smith other than the epic marijuana consumption.

Gerber was a genius. I love his run on the Defenders especially.

I am not sure anyone should adapt Steve Gerber.  The guy had some not great views on some things that kinda come out in the original Howard the Duck run

Not with that attitude

Well... the guy who made Clerks 3 should know a thing or two about a fool’s errand.

Sure, but that’s more due to kevin Feige's restraining order than anything else.

You’ve got as much chance of being asked as Kevin smith does.

That way you could be kidnapped and taken against your will to jewelers and tailors by a cabbie who gets kickbacks for it. Or gang molested on a bus if you’re a foreign woman.

It’s all well and good to want these objects to be returned, but I doubt it will happen in any of our lifetimes. The looting of Egyptian museums during the uprising last decade will also give the British Museum pause. Now that doesn’t mean they should keep it, but they are never going to return them just because they

Priceless artifacts like the Rosetta Stone are a hell of a lot safer in the British Museum than they would be anywhere in the Middle East. Ackowledge that the RS has its historical roots in Egypt,  maybe even offer the Egyptian government some sort of partnership in terms of tourism revenue or whatnot, but leave it

Minority Opinion - Leave it where it is.

I don’t see why.

The original Egyptian people, like at the time of the great pyramids, up until the Ptolemaic rulers are gone. Their are some Berber nomads, former osmanic occupants, and so many different invaders, which also disappeared over time, that no one has a real claim to this.

At this point it’s a world wide

Throughout history it has always been “might makes right” and “to the victor goes the spoil” and I would argue that without the advent of Christianity, the world as a whole would probably be that way since Christianity teaches us to have compassion on others, the lest fortunate, even our enemies.

Should Britain be demanding the return of its own cultural artifacts from museums and private owners round the world? The Smithsonian for example has 82,300 items listed as British origin.

I agree that artifacts typically belong to the countries they originated with. But doesn't Egypt have a historic tendency of letting things of historic value be lost, stolen or destroyed? I also believe things should reside where they are safest. Is that necessarily Britain? Who's to say. But Egypt hasn't been super

I would mostly just be worried about its safety in Egypt. For example, being stolen or destroyed during a coup and with Egypt about to run out of water the odds of unrest in that country are extremely high for at least the next few decades.
