“Some old lady”? “Straighty” friends? Wow. “My boyfriend’s life is full of people he loves and spends time with, and activities he finds fulfilling, and he’s willing to share it with me, and what’s up with all THAT, anyway?” Boy, somebody is setting himself up for a world of regret when he realizes what a hateful

Insisting that the actor chosen for any given role fits the sex/gender/sexuality/race/etc. of that role exactly is super limiting.

Same, although I stopped coming here recently because the gawkerness of it all finally got to me. The cross-promotion of sister sites that didn’t really fit the tone or content of the AV Club, the gossipy, bitchy tone of a lot of the news articles, and that thing I hate about all media where it is basically rephrasing

It’s like we're rescuing the AV Club from The Borg!

Do you need a hug?

Both characters are over the age of consent, the age difference is less than that of most straight movie “rom coms”.

Then it’s too bad reviewers and movie-goers are acting like it IS a shining example of homosexual love. Again, if this were a man-girl coupling, the reaction would be different.

I also haven’t seen it. But piggybacking on Thom H.’s comment, “Because sometimes art is difficult and forces us to look at things we find uncomfortable” I would say it’s a little silly to assume all entertainment is prescriptive. You know?

Dear God, the faggotry here is out of control.

The ages are 17 and 24. Perhaps the film cast actors (while good) who don’t really fit the part of those ages (especially Armie Hammer who comes off as 29-33ish).

The hole in the vinyl is the perfect size.

Yeah, David is obviously suffering from schizophrenia. His sexual assault is a terrible thing, but it makes sense with the character. I also think it’s important to note how stunned he was when Syd told him about what he had done—he had simply seen himself as sleeping with someone who he loved and who, in turn, loved

Absolutely. Legion has always been a villain first, anti-hero later, so that’s what the show is exploring. It’s telling that they cast Dan Stevens, who has some experience with portraying bad guys (or bad guys posing as good guys, like in The Guest).

At least the one person he didn’t alienate is Lenny... and she happens to contain what’s left of his dear sweet big sister. I think if anyone could save David from becoming irredeemable, it’s Amy.

The memories he suppressed are Fahrouk’s manipulations. I really am not trying to defend David’s actions, but I’ve been saying since Future Syd appeared that her telling him to help Fahrouk was a tar-chick inception. The entire season has been hitting us over the head with the fact that people can be made to believe

This! All of this.

Huh.

I mean, I agree that it’s super depressing that the show went in this direction, but Legion isn’t Buffy, and it’s not The Flash. I think it’s a deeper and more psychologically interesting show.

It makes perfect sense that David used his powers to make Syd forget that she had stopped loving him, and that he slept

I’m 100% on Team David. I didn’t like the choice of the assault angle, but I’m choosing to believe that everyone else is deluded more than likely by the Shadow King.

I don’t know how to make fancy quotes, so: “the two of them talk to, past, and around each other constantly”

Sienkiewicz is great, but I’ll never forgive him for tanking Big Numbers.
