My understanding when I tested the app is that it is indeed a false positive, but let me know what you hear from the developers. I’ll ask myself - but when I scanned the installer, tested it in sandbox, and then scanned for malware later, I turned up nothing.

A Virustotal scan of the RansomFree installer returns a hit via Baidu for the WisdomEyes trojan, which mines bitcoin and can encrypt files.

Everyone I talked to while researching this (which wasn’t nearly as many people as I’d like, but still a good indicator!) said more or less the same thing. I think that any conflicts boil down to simply being respectful of someone’s beliefs...but most people like getting gifts. And even those who don’t, they aren’t

It’s getting blown up, it would seem.

I really only used that feature too, but even now that it’s free I think I’ll keep using Premium. LastPass has been so incredibly convenient, I’ll now just look at the $12 as a donation to the developer(s) for their hard work.

I will still pay for this service even though I don’t need to. A strong password manager is that important.

Smartphones are a great tool but they don’t innovate enough year to year. At least not enough for me to spend upwards of $600 on them. I only did that once.

Now I have an OnePlus One and I’ll only be on the market for a new smartphone when it stops working.

The irony is that Silver’s original purpose with 538, back when it was just a Blogger site, was to provide a data-driven alternative to horse-race coverage. The problem is that, because 2008, 2012, and most of 2016 have shown a Democrat likely to win, his model was embraced by liberals as this mystic talisman against

Yeah, I think AB here is missing what Silver is rebuffing. He’s saying the car won’t start, and everyone around him is either telling him he flooded the tank, or he is an idiot for thinking cars can move and isn’t it nice that Nate Silver looks stupid now.

you should probably make the score/folds at multiples of 16 inches, because studs are normally spaced 16" on center. That way there is something behind that break in the drywall when you put it up.... Unless you have walls that have 12" stud spacing.

You used to be able to do something like http://lifehacker.com/tags/not:pokemon-go, but that doesn’t seem to work anymore?

Gawker needs all the help it can get.

The best way to approach ANY of these events is to plan ahead and not just constantly scan the deals looking for something good - that way leads to madness/frustration and feeling disappointed at not getting better deals on things you didn’t really want or need in the first place. Make a list of things you

What did you do to the moon! like 80% of it is gone! WHY CAN I SEE THE STARS THROUGH IT!

Good information. To maybe save someone else a little time, I just found this out at the Social Security Administration’s website:

Financing a depreciating asset and handing it to a teenager makes even less sense, somehow... I think the answer for me is to tell my kids to buy their own damn phones and leave me out of it.
