For me it’s more about the humidity than the heat. I think I would be fine without AC at all, if not for the humidity.

I haven’t used a KVM in about 10 years. Remote desktop over LAN is pretty much as good as a direct connection. I have two headless secondary PCs I need to use at various times during the day, so I just keep an RDP connection open. The great thing about this setup is you can use the a common clipboard so it’s easy to

Fixed it. ;)

Thanks; that was very helpful. Now can you tell me how to filter those out of my RSS feeds?

I would like to know how to do that with an RSS feed. Doesn’t seem to be a way either way.

Please, please, please — enough of the Pokemon posts already. Why not start a new site for all Pokemon all the time and return LH to being about real life.

I just want the syncing issues solved, but alas — this update still has not fixed them. It’s sort of like watching a Windows download. One minute I have 7,125 steps, then 6,340, then 7,200...

While I have no doubt that some people will snag some serious deals on things they may or may not need, and while I appreciate that Kinja is keeping us informed, I avoid these kinds of events like the plague. I also hate Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and all the other contrived sales events of their ilk.

Good information. To maybe save someone else a little time, I just found this out at the Social Security Administration’s website:

This is very helpful, and timely for me. My GP recommended trying probiotics to help treat my IBS. But I have been overwhelmed at the lack of information about what works and the price discrepancies. I’m going to use this tool.

I live for the comments on these playlist posts. Nothing quite so entertaining as watching people pompously moralize over the musical tastes of others. ;)

Another home run, Beth. So many people — including me, until I educated myself — completely misunderstand what the placebo effect is. If it really worked the way they think it does, doctors wouldn’t be prohibited by ethics guidelines from prescribing sugar pills.

Thanks! Just snagged one of these at $129.

I guess the deal’s already expired. It comes up $179 now.

Bravo. I love it that Lifehacker is taking a hard stand against pseudoscience. Not many of my woo-believing friends are willing to venture into the skeptic sites and blogs that I frequent, but quite a few of them like LH. Maybe they’ll learn something.

Absolutely. We bought a house 6 months ago and were aghast at what the realtor and bankers told us we should be looking for. We’re in our 50's and if we had bought as much house as they were saying we could afford, we’d be paying a large mortgage payment until our 80's. No thanks. Instead we decided on what we wanted

Thanks for a very well-written and informative article. You knocked it out of the park again, Beth.

+1

Excellent article. Thank you, Beth. It’s solid, science-based information with no hype, and well-written and organized as well.

In many ways, LH is not nearly as useful as it was back in the “old days.” There are so many more posts to wade through, and the majority (IMHO) are uninteresting or incredibly obvious. This
