At the time, that was based on a bad defensive series on his part. His overall season in LF was fine, more than enough to justify keeping him in the lineup. Yeah I mean he was giving me Lucas Duda in the outfield flashbacks and it was obvious he shouldn’t be out there, but I still feel really bad for the Cubs on this one. They should have traded him or cleared some space in the infield (though they could get way more than relievers for him).

I won’t knock you for suggesting he be sent to the AL, but unless you’re getting Mariano Rivera in his prime, I’d roll the dice on letting Schwarber play the field and sock some dingers over dealing him for a guy or two you might get 80 innings of relief pitching a piece out of.

While he was just God awful in left in the NLCS overall he was just under average out there on the year. Plus you can’t say this was because he is a bad LF because he actually had a good read on that ball. He just didn’t hear/ignored Fowler at the worst possible time.
