I covered Anderson during his college career, and he is one of the friendliest, most pleasant athletes I’ve ever encountered. He had a lot of interesting perspectives on things, too, coming from South Africa. I always kind of thought he would be a doubles specialist on tour, but it’s awesome that he has proved me

Juggling baseballs and smoking a cigarette in the dugout.

Qualifying for the UCL is good way to get people to Qarabout your team.

To add on to the other comment, the French would cut the two fingers off of any archer they took captive because the British were known to have some of the best archers and as you can imagine, their archery skills would be diminished.

Unlike those strong players in the NBA who never flop or fall down or fake injuries.... At least these guys play a sport that requires extended periods of running and jumping with limited to no stopages.

But you didn’t get basic information about MLS correct. Your degree and knowledge of economics are nice, but weighing in on MLS becomes shaky when you don’t even talk about SUM. You also don’t talk about the league’s big successful clubs who (according to ownership) are at least breaking even or even making a profit.

But, quite frankly, that doesn’t mean he understands MLS’s economic situation. The article, for example, completely ignores SUM and its role in obfuscating financial data and bringing in revenue. Almost certainly the vast majority of the league’s revenue is actually through backchannels in SUM.

Like I said, I haven’t read it. Maybe he is the exception to the rule in this age of Gladwellian discourse. That said, his MLS takes are stunningly lazy.

It has been widely reported that the distribution of free tickets has declined to a huge degree over the course of MLS’s history. I’m not going to look that up for you.

Great job Deadspin, you found a dime store economist to shit on MLS using questionable facts. I’m sure he has read all the Freakonomics books and Gladwell too. He must be an expert! Looking forward to next week when you bring in a psychic to predict MLS’s future.

“allegedly growing in popularity”

It’s just kinda sad at this point. Adu doesn’t want to give up chasing his dream, but he’s clearly not talented enough to make it in the big leagues...or the small leagues...or the beer leagues. He’s got the heart, but he doesn’t have the talent, kinda like Billy Haisley.

nothing to see here, bernie tomic is always that bad

There’s plenty of professional tennis players that would love to have Querrey’s “forgettable” forehand

You want a pop song.

All you goddamn city-dwelling Millenials who’ve never picked your own sun-warmed wild raspberries and enjoyed them right then and there, but rather formed your opinion of this wonderberry from the styrofoam and Saran-wrap clad units chilled into submission for weeks on end in a grocery distribution chain from hell can

At least he died doing what he loved, delaying a motorist at a crossroad.

That’s a shallow analysis of Everton and soccer in general. There are 10 outfield players on a pitch. Keeping the ball out of your own net is one aspect. Putting the ball in your opponent’s net is another aspect. And yet another, and probably the most important aspect, is pushing the ball from your end into the

I’m actually a fan of well, maybe not the league as a whole, but the Seattle Sounders and I have to say that it’s not as bad as people make it out to be and it is getting better, guys like Sebastian Giovinco, Miguel Almiron and Nicolas Lodeiro are a lot of fun to watch and it’s a league that does not take itself too
