I guess I need to change my position. I haven't seen a Sony/Pentax camera that outperforms a comparable Canon camera. Honestly, while the sensor graphs are interesting, there is very little real-world information there - how a photo looks is dependent on how the sensor and image processor work together.

@Renzo: that depends on your idea of affordable. I'd recommend buying a sunpak piece of shit for $20 until you can save up for a Manfrotto or Bogen setup.

@mrjackson: I had a plan to do something similar. Then, I realized that I don't trust my parents with computers, even to the extent that all they would have to do is reboot it after the power goes out.

@SkipErnst: It isn't the same device. The original can make eye contact and stuff, and it is a medical tool. The one we can all afford is just a toy, but dammit man - it will be awesome.
