I don't think dubstep would have a high enough tempo to trash the keepon. Drum solos, speed metal, or certain live jazz recordings would probably do it, though.

@Homer Berkowitz: I'll be flying across the country in a couple weeks, so I plan to find out. Sometimes simply browsing with https can get around paywalls, but I've also had success ssh-ing back home and browsing from there.

@timgray: I want a toughbook just for that purpose, but I can't ever seem to want it as much as I'd like to keep my $3,000. But every time I meet a contractor with one I ask if I can drop it.

@MayorBloomberg: Yes, we're off topic. As this whole thread has turned into a mac vs. pc flamefest, that doesn't surprise me.

@MayorBloomberg: I am calling attention to the fact that the biggest security issues are online, and most issues are platform-independent. All browsers have holes, and this attitude of invincibility prevalent among mac and linux users puts them at a disadvantage - that is, they aren't paranoid to the extent that

@MayorBloomberg: Apple actually did promote that, and the point is actually that computer systems are insecure. PC users (for the most part) know about it, mac users don't. It isn't just worms and viruses that people need to worry about; phishing, browser vulnerabilities, and rootkits are the ones to watch for.

"Grounded" should be ground.

many of us may never actually hear this music because his website is about to get gizmodo'd

@The Project: Call of Halo: if by "deal" you mean "annoy until said varmint shreds your dick into sashimi," then I guess you're okay.

I enjoy his misspellings of "peep" and especially his repeated misspelling of "statement."

@vinod1978: nonono I was responding to the "better than starbucks" part.

@verspasian: well, now that apple isn't obscure, I predict palm will be the new hipster's choice.

No parts of the plastic lid that touch your cup or your food touch the counter - that is part of the function of the plastic lip on the bottom of the lid. If you can't help but be that worked up about the counter, I'm surprised that you drink coffee someone else has made for you at all.

@YourStarDoesNotMakeYouRight: Actually, the name on the box has a lot to say about what a product is going to be like. Apple products are shiny, underpowered, and have tons of pretty eye-candy. Toshiba has a reputation for making good TVs and BD players, a couple great laptops, and absolute shit tablets. Those not

@YourStarDoesNotMakeYouRight: I'm sure if there was a functioning prototype available, they would've actually said something about how the device performs. Unfortunately that is not the case, so we're left with a choice between the opinion of an author that we either agree or disagree with; based on Toshiba's past

@Michael Scrip: Probably true. Bundle it with $20 off Geek Squad installation ($100 value!) and tons of people will pay out the ears for shit they don't need.

@Michael Scrip: doesn't pretty much every router have QOS rules now anyway?
