@phunnyballs: "Avoid any kind of giveaway that's not supported in a big way by a known brand, even if it happens to be an online brand (like Zappos, for example)"

@alienshards: That all depends on what market you're talking about. In the ad market, Google eats their lunch. In the handset hardware market, apple wins. In the handset OS market, Google wins, but it is still close.

@phunnyballs: He said not to trust online contests UNLESS they are supported (in a big way) by a large retailer (like Zappos). In other words: Unless a very big retailer (online or not) is hosting the contest, forget about it.

@abates25: Wasn't that Jason Chen?

@Fourdagon: That is a $250 speaker set. In college, my roommate's parents bought a similar set for him. I bought my Creative 2.1 speakers at a garage sale for $20 (I think they were around $60 new), and they outperformed the Bose speakers in every test we did. So, if sound quality (and money) is important, don't buy

@kasrhp: Oh my god, that was wonderful. Whoever that guy is, he gets a gold star for taking the time to write up such an in-depth article on how bad they really are. I didn't actually know that they had that midrange gap...but it isn't really surprising either.

@Kaiser-Machead v.2.1.1: sure you could. You could pay less, too. I guess this kid doesn't really need to worry about money that much though.

Okay, so we can all agree that this kid rules. But, he still bought Bose speakers, so he's not perfect.

@Slinkytech: Looks to me like whoever took the photo took a long enough exposure to get the stars right and used flash on the foreground. Then again, they could have done any number of things to take separate photos and blend them together.

They do this in the video but don't mention it: twist the cord 1/8 or 1/4 turn to make it coil nicely. That way, it won't tangle up on you.

@budice4ever: How do you think the search engines find and index pages? They follow links.

@thomasl2003: Or Margaret Thatcher. Sorry, all I can think of are ugly politicians today.

I'd hit Janet Reno if I got a $50m severance package.

@ArmoredCavalry: Well, yes. But I was also talking about a similar situation with an appropriate body size/gap ratio, for example: between a desk and a wall.

Honestly, the easiest way for me is in a big pot. Put the oil (with a dash of hot pepper oil), heat, add corn. 3 minutes later, have popcorn, and clean the pot as usual after the movie.

my cat can do that.

@Kamalot: It should be read as "For years they were trying to get approval to sell it, but were denied because it included wifi. So they made a new model for China without the wifi, which was released in October. Finally, years (since 2007?) after the iphone's introduction, they will start selling wifi-enabled iphones

@dagwud: Not at my highschool in California :(
