Plus the whole “seduction” was basically that one scene where Anakin and Palpatine are watching Cirque du Soleil and Paplatine tells this “I knew a guy who knew a guy who said someone was so powerful with the dark side they could cheat death.”

There are also people who liked “Two and a Half Men” enough to keep it on the air for 12 seasons or so, while “Arrested Development” lasted barely 3.

I think he clearly did care because he basically sold the entire franchise to Disney because he was mad at people saying his ideas for the last 15 years had been mostly crap.

I think the set and model builders and designers had a lot to do with how things came out looking like they did in the originals.

But he never actually showed him any evidence of that. His promise was that “Oh if you embrace the dark side you can become so powerful you can even cheat death.” And Anakin just took it at face value without Palpatine doing a single thing to show the validity of his “dark side=more power” boast.

But it wasn’t even as elaborate as manipulation......he was basically tricked.

Agree....I don’t know how McGregor did as well as he did with Lucas directing him. I think it’s because Lucas believes that “Old & Wise = Unemotional and Monotone” and, since Obi-Wan was still fairly young, Lucas let him actually display emotions and range a bit.

Yeah but he fucked it up as usual with the follow up scenes where he’s raging to Padme about how he killed them all, including the women and children, and Padme isn’t the least bit disturbed by it and says something like “To be angry is to be human”.....What the fuck?!?!?!?!?

But not as bad as the premise that Yoda takes a fall during his battle with Palpatine and then just decides “Well, I tried my best, no point in trying to continue the fight. Guess I have to go into exile for the next 20 years.”

I disliked Christensen for years because of his portrayal of Anakin.......But I eventually realized he wasn’t at fault. He was just some young actor who was at the mercy of George Lucas fucking horseshit dialogue and directing. Sure he had all the range of a piece of wood and the scenes where he was supposed to be the…

No because you’d have to basically redo the whole damn thing because there really isn’t a single thing from the prequels that would be worth keeping in a rebooted series.

The next stand alone “Star Wars” film is either “Jek Porkins: Origins” or GTFO.
