Yeah, the voice didn’t really bother me and the first time that I watched the trailer (before seeing this article) I didn’t even really think about it sounding (Christian Bale) Batman-like. It sounds a lot like Jackie Earl Haley’s whisper-growl in his version of the character: 

And in the “There Are No Coincidences” Department - “The Odessa File” is a novel by Frederick Forsyth centered on those very ratlines, and it was made into a movie starring, yes, Jon Voight.

I hear in the movie Ridley’s character believes the whole time she’s a nobody born to non-descript parents, until the end when she learns her real dad is Johnny Weismuller.  

It does though. Forgotten Realms is well established in D&D as a setting with lore revolving around several well known characters with many books already written about them. This is a difficult needle to thread, because what made Honor Among Thieves work so well was that it wasn’t just another fantasy story - it was someone generating a fantasy version of exactly was was going on in a D&D game.
