Your question was how this can end well for her. If she (presumably, I really have zero idea how any studio/agent/etc didn’t know her name and age, my gf knew that shit when Pitch Perfect came out...) did not lie about her age or name, and the reporter flagrantly claimed she did, and it caused attention to be drawn to

No. There’s nothing to discover. If there was a insidious reason why everyone thought it was true than there wouldn’t be a defamation case...

How is this difficult to get?

What you’re wrong about is that the magazine said she was lying, when she wasn’t. That, itself, is defamation.

she is the one claiming that she was defamed. by the magazine saying she lied. claiming that what they wrote tarnished her reputation.

I don’t get from this she’s actually disputing any of the presented claims, only that she has not “lied” about them?

the journalist KNEW that the claims were false

What journalist would ever use a comment section as a reputable source? What’s the point in scrolling through the work from home scams, trolls, off topic political nonsense, comments meant for another article, and the “Well actually...” people for facts on a current event?

Good. I hope the judge sides with her. I hated these “stories” when they came out and thought they stank of jealousy—and I never blame jealousy for anything. I strongly suspect that they went after her because she was hugely successful, definitely plus size and unapologetically sexy. Everyone knows that actors fluff

Looked like Ellaria and Yara Greyjoy to me.

In emails published by ABC News Online in Australia, Nementzik reveals that research indicates Wilson had never misrepresented her age, and has admitted her real name is Melanie. As such, over the coming months, Woman’s Day was reportedly discouraged from posting an article about her by their legal team. But when Pitc

One bright spot from yesterday: they found one of people that had been missing since terrorist bombing took place. Laura Macintyre’s family found her in one of the hospitals after searching all over Manchester. She’s still unconscious and is severely burned but she’s alive and expected to make recovery. She and a

I’ve been making it a point to read and find out more of each of the victims as they are named. I was reading through Martyn Hett’s twitter, a young man who tragically was lost, and he gave me an unexpected laugh this morning:

I feel awful for the children who lost their parents who were waiting for them after the concert.

I don’t want to like Blake Lively, but she was great in that film about the drug dealers, and I was also impressed with her ability to do a piss off the side of a bridge while standing up in that other film.

I think this needs more attention as well. A lot of people complain that anti-terrorist measures don’t work or that governments are slacking and thats why attacks keep happening but people seem to conveniently ignore how many attacks are stopped every day. Talked to a guy once who works with this kind of stuff.

Yeah but people feel like they “know” her. She’s less anonymous. It makes sense to focus your sympathy on someone that feels more tangible. People do it all the time. Do you really think that people saying pray for Ariana aren’t concerned with everyone else? I think a more generous reading is warranted.

Good on her for taking this on. The whole “you’re not like other girls” thing is so, so gross.

This article has some analysis at the bottom I think we all need to read:

These are two grown women. And yet for some reason they seem to find it totally acceptable to act like high school girls. How are they not embarrassed by this?
