Ford “We sell a truck best known for virtue signaling by conservatives using a propulsion technology best known for virtue signaling by lefties.  Weird that no one seems to want it, esp. because we’ve priced it for only the upper middle class”

“Yeah, they are too low.”

Cars.com has 29 new Lightnings with 100 miles of me, ranging from 56k - 86k.  (Not sure if that 56k includes the rebate.)

Autotrader shows only 6(!) new Lightnings within 100 miles of me. Only 2 are being advertised under $70k, and that’s because they include the $7500 rebate in the price. Only 1 is actually marked down - 3 grand off of a $79k truck. So yeah, seems like they aren’t too interested in actually moving them.

1st: We keep raising the price, but fewer people want to buy it. Why?

Tires rot off my cars before I wear them out. I don’t really care how many miles they go. I have long found that tires that go a lot of miles have extremely sub-par grip. TANSTAAFL

Bang for your Buck, just like a Tesla!

Definitely not. And I think that the lower than average number of comments that these slideshow articles accrue is proof of that. Sadly, only data analysts know for sure.

Am I the only one that hates these slideshow articles? It reminds me of the clickbait articles that are like, “you’ll never believe what happened to so and so from that show you watched as a teen” and then it takes fifteen pages of filler material to find out they’re in jail.

Also, humans are not ‘the best drivers’. Humans suck and cause thousands of accidents all the time. Why on earth would you want to mimick that?

To steal a phrase, it’s for the same reason a Soviet RBMK reactor used graphite tips on its control rods - it’s cheaper.

In extremely tiny fairness to Tesla, they do say the proper thing to do is to not swerve when faced with a deer at speed and just nail the sucker. Horrible, I know, but the authorities always say that it’s usually less dangerous to hit the deer than to suddenly swerve into another lane and possibly hit a car. (Of

I never understood the argument for 100% vision. I’ve heard people counter saying “humans are the best drivers and use 100% vision; it’s tested and works”. True, but humans also use other combined senses, and last I checked I can’t see in the dark or through a snow storm.

Does anyone that actually owns a Tesla actually drive it like a human? Even with the auto-pilot -whatever activated, your eyes should still be on the road 101% of the time to intervene in any emergency.

I live in the middle of Oklahoma City, and passed TWO on the way to work that were dead on the side of the road.

The car did alert after hitting the deer, it just alerted RFK, Jr. to come pick up the carcass and dispose of it in Central Park. That’s the new protocol.

In the ‘90s I had a friend with a Testa Rossa, when he sold it we worked out how much it cost per mile. With finance interest and the miles driven it was ... AUD$13,000 per mile.

As a dude who just bought a 2-year-old  model Y for half price, I thank him and other new-car buyers for their sacrifice.  Also quoted trade-in value is a scam if your car is in any kind of decent condition.  I've sold my last 3 cars myself for 2-4x their "trade in value.".

I’d rather call it an ‘early adopter tax’ than a markup. It was a damn expensive early adopter tax, too, since the Plaid base price is $90K.

While it is fun to blame this all on Elon hate, this is explainable without and EV buyers should beware, resale values are not great:
