The Model S Plaid adds about 200 miles of charge in 15 minutes (13.3 mi per minute)

You choose your car off of your least frequent trip? People with the money for this car are grabbing a flight and a rental. Lucid is obviously not looking at the same segment as the volt. That said the Volt is an under rated car. It’s really very good.

This EV won’t work for me because the commute to my job is 20 miles each way and once I get there they don’t give me enough money to buy this car.

I’ll be patiently waiting in the comments for someone to come say how this EV won’t work for them because their commute is 600 miles each way in the snow towing a 12,000lb trailer.

Old cars will be better than (current) new cars in about 10 years.

Not even close. New cars are better in basically every single way.

Did not know that about Toyota’s acceleration, I blamed it on drivers just like Audi

I uttered an audible “oh!” at the picture of the utterly empty, wide-open interior. That has a certain level of appeal. It is, however, nowhere near enough.

I fail to understand how using federal incentives to encourage adoption EV - to pursue the goal of reduced emissions - has anything to do with union labor.

I live in a climate with extreme cold, snow and lately in summer, extreme heat. That doesn’t mean that it’s 24/7/365 shitty. More than half the year is great. And when you live in a place with lots of snow and cold weather, you tend to own clothes for that weather.

“Cars are the best way to ___________.”

Jaguar says the F type R’s transmission fluids are lifetime. So are the supercharger oil and differential fluid.

“Pickups are good in the snow.”

-Premium gas providing any benefit in engines not designed for it.

Yea this article mentions other reasons for why this didn’t sell in the US:

Let’s see if replying doesn’t get stuck in “Pending”...

Phew, we need more crossovers. I didn’t feel like there were 17,000 to choose from already.

I think $750 would be pretty optimistic for this.. thing.

This. I had a fully loaded ‘20 Bolt that was $25k out the door after all the discounts GM threw at it plus local incentives. And range is 259 miles. Outside of the current battery fire fiasco I think it was always a really good car that got unfairly compared to the Tesla Model 3 and hence labelled as a poor

The $25k electric car existed for the last 2 years (before the pandemic hit) in the Chevy Bolt.
